2009 WINMAU BDO BRITISH CLASSIC

Kettering Conference Centre – SATURDAY, JULY 25TH

The 2009 Winmau BDO British Classic – the 3rd event in the BDO Fire Kills International Grand Prix Series –will be hotly contested by top BDO players fighting for vital World ranking points, £2,000 and the winner’s trophy at Kettering Conference Centre on Saturday, July 25th.

World No.1 TONY O’SHEA (England) in blistering form this year has been runner-up in the Lakeside World Professional and England Open claiming victories in the Scottish Open, BDO International Open and Welsh Classic is desperately trying to edge ahead of ROSS MONTGOMERY (Scotland) who currently shares top spot in the BDO Fire Kills International Grand Prix table with him.

Tony’s joined at Kettering by reigning Lakeside World Champion and England Open Champion TED HANKEY, who is in confident mood after signing an exclusive 5 year contract with Winmau, MARTIN ADAMS reigning Winmau World Masters Champion and England Captain, the ever dangerous DARRYL FITTON, SCOTT WAITES and JOHNBOY WALTON.

The Women’s Singles line up is equally mouth-watering in fight for £500 and Winners trophy as Russia’s World No.1 IRINA ARMSTRONG takes on her nearest rivals Winmau and England’s TRINA GULLIVER and JULIE GORE of Wales, the current BDO Gold Cup Women’s Singles Champion.

A unique competition see’s the boys and girls aged 13 to 19 compete for the Barbara Wood Trophy and prizes to the value of £2,000.

As part of its "HOT" sponsorship by the government ‘Fire Kills’ campaign, the Winmau BDO British Classic will benefit from attendance by the local Fire & Rescue Service and a promotional team who will help raise awareness of the importance of fire safety in the home. Those who apply for a free home safety check on the day will be entered into a draw to win tickets for the final of the BDO Lakeside World Professional Darts Championships next January.

Play starts in the Men’s and Women’s Singles at approx 10.30AM on Saturday, July 25th, and the weekend of darts at Kettering Conference Centre will conclude with the BDO British Teenage Open Mixed Darts Singles on Sunday, July 26th.

Non-playing spectators are all welcome for an on-the-door fee of £5 for the day.
