Darts: Doreen’s big finish fails to save Slipper^s Ladies darts team from defeat

SLIPPER captain Doreen Johnstone fired a 118 checkout, but still ended up on the losing side against Ox in division one of the York John Smith’s Ladies Darts League.

Ox captain Sandra Bruce gamed in 24 darts in her singles and then sealed a 7-4 victory with partner Tracey Bruce.

Beeswing’s Nikki Judson hit a maximum in her side’s 7-4 win over visitors Flag. Flag took a 4-2 advantage into the pairs, but the home team rallied through Chris Hayward and Kelly Outterson.

Leaders Cueball also won 7-4 after visitors Burnholme had shot into a 3-0 lead. Angie Hields (24) and captain Tracey Farmeary pulled two back.

Caroline Whittaker added to the visitors tally, but the leaders rallied in the pairs with Hields and Bev Harton snatching the points.

Clifton and Cygnet managed 13 ton-plus scores.

Clifton’s Carole Layne and Jo Hodges led the way with three apiece, with Sue Lowery and Pat Nelson chipping in with two each in their 7-4 win.

Woolpack were also victorious in the pairs in a 6-3 win at Tiger, whose Ruth Howden (25) starred.

Slip ‘B’ got the better of their ‘A’ team to keep second-placed Clifton within their sights.

New division two leaders Acomb rallied in the pairs to beat Shoulder.

Mitre moved into second place after beating previous leaders Burton WMC. Jane Barnes and Karen Johnson sealed victory.

Seahorse floundered as visitors Shepherd ‘A’ won 7-2.

Division three champions-elect Tap were denied a perfect scoreline by Hussars’ Sharon Mountain and Gemma Hall.

Leeman ‘A’ raced into a 4-0 home advantage against Beagle, and eventually won 6-3.

Emma Wheatley and Anthea Jamieson snatched a last-gasp victory for Volunteer against Leeman ‘B’, while Marcia Grey’s Sonya Love and Jackie Young sealed victory by the same margin at Jubilee.
