BBC extends Lakeside darts deal

BBC Sport has extended its contract for exclusive coverage of the Lakeside World Professional Darts Championships through to 2013.

The BBC has broadcast the British Darts Organisation^s premier event since 1978, and BDO boss Olly Croft said: "This is wonderful news.

"It^s a unique broadcasting partnership and we are very proud of it."

Philip Bernie, the BBC^s head of TV Sport, said: "We^re delighted to extend our long relationship with the BDO."

Rob Walker will co-present the BBC^s coverage of the Winmau World Masters in Bridlington over the weekend of 5-6 September.

Walker reported on the sailing events at the 2008 Olympics in China, and in April this year took up the dual role of reporter and MC for the BBC^s coverage of World Snooker Championship in Sheffield.
