Cup fixtures were on the agenda for the Four Oaks and District League. Firstly the second round of the Coronation Shield. It was a case of fighting back for both Boot Flights and Boldmere Sports in their respective matches against Hardy Spicer and Red Lion Flights. Both teams found themselves trailing 6-3, but Boot Flights went on to win 8-7 and Bolmere went one better with a 9-6 verdict over Red Lion.

The two top teams in the league Midland Red and Sportsmans Rest were true to form and recorded convincing 11-4 victories. The Red’s, with a maximum from R.Hawker won at Anvil Nomads, while Sportsmans had a home tie against Old Oscott Arrows.

There were just games in the first round of the Norman Day Cup, both of them finishing with 9-6 results. Barn Social won their home game against Deer’s Leap and Old Oscott, who also played at home defeated Bromford Lions. A prospect for the future appears to be Bromford Lions N.Rose. In only her second ever league game she chalked up breaks of 104 and110 plus a score of 101.

The Plough and the Acorn both had byes into the next round.

The George and Midland Red continue their bid for honours in the Harborne and District Winter League. The two teams had home tie’s this week, they both won 8-1 and they both remain unbeaten so far. George squared up to the Cock Inn side while Midland Red played against Bartley Green F.C., who must have been somewhat surprised at the margin of their defeat. S.Bourne and S.Birkett both had 160 breaks for the Red’s.

Quinborne were another team to win by 8-1 as they played hosts to Avenue Social. 7-2 was the difference between Pheasant and Quinton Members Club Flights with the former getting the verdict. Thurlestone returned from Hillyfields with a 6-3 win and to round off the results there was a 5-4 success for Harborne Stores at New Inns.

----------------------------------

West Midlands latest division three fixture in the Kaliber BDO Inter Counties Championships was an away game against Nottinghamshire. The result was a crushing 23-13 defeat for West Midlands, their first of the current campaign. This setback has seen them drop to fifth place in the promotional table, with Nottinghamshire moving into pole position. Nevertheless West Midlands are still only eight points adrift of the leaders and there are plenty of points to be won and lost between now and the end of the season.
