The Arrows are certainly going straight and true in the premier division of the Forest of Arden Winter league. Highwood Arrows and Red Arrows , after completing the first three fixtures of the new campaign are both undefeated, with Highwood in pole position thanks to their superior average. Highwood Arrows had a bye in the latest round of games, but Red Arrows managed a close 5-4 home win over Sheldon Heath Flights. Hobs Meadow chalked up their first win in four outings when they travelled to the Highwood and won 5-4.

In division one Harvester lead the field. With just one defeat in four games they have six points, this week’s 7-2 victory coming at the expense of bottom of the table Greville Arms, who have managed just one win in four. Rodney Read (Farringdon Social) recorded a magnificent maximum outshot of 170 despite his team going down 6-3 against Hobs Meadow Mixes.

For the second week running Three Horse Shoes have lost in the premier division of the Sheldon and District Winter League. Following a close 5-4 reversal at the hands of the St Annes outfit, the Shoes then lost by 7-2 at home to the Highwood. St Annes recorded another 5-4 win as they accounted for Saltley Amateur Gardeners. Castle Vale Residents Association lost by the same margin to Sheldon Heath Dukes, small consolation was the tremendous 170 maximum game shot by their C.Betteridge.

In division one Harvester handed out a 9-0 whitewash to Pavilions, while Solihull Borough FC beat Glebe Community Centre 7-2. Lea Hall Sports and Social and Shard End Social each won by 5-4 against respective opponents Raven and Vaughans, with J.Sabell hitting a 180 for Shard End.

All of division two’s games finished with a 6-3 scoreline. There were wins for Banbury Club, Sheldon and Marlboro, Old Bill and Bull and Yardley Ex Service, who in turn beat Gunmakers Arms, Victoria Social, Sedgemere and Sheldon Shoes. B.Wheeler had a 160 break for Banbury and A.Powell hit a 180 for Victoria.

The league’s next meeting will be held at their headquarters, Lea Hall Sports and Social Club on Sunday 11th January.
