A LOOK BACK IN TIME - 09.03.2005
White Hart ’A’ (Swindon) are the new champions of the prestigious Bedworth Gateway Open Competition. The Swindon outfit won the final against the Nags Head ’A’ from Peterborough 4-2.
The ladies title went to Bristol based Air Balloon Tavern, with the runners up being the Crown (Bedford). The final score was as the men’s 4-2.

The Forest of Arden Winter League have been engaged in their men’s and women’s doubles knockouts. Playing at Sheldon Heath Social Club Alan Price and John Cartmell of the Red Arrows took the men’s title with a 2-1 success over fellow finalists Alan Savage and Mat Cooper (Sheldon Heath Flights).
The women’s final was another 2-1 verdict with Pat Whing (Mackadown Sports and Social) and Jeanette James (Sheldon Ivy Leaf) getting the better of their final opponents Ruth Gwilliam and Pat Hussey representing Greville Arrows.
On the league fron nothing changes as the top two teams both recorded victories. Leaders Red Arrows played a home tie against Farringdon Social and with no fewer than fifteen three figure scores they chalked up an impressive 7-2 win. For Farringdon there were three scores of a ton or over including a maximum from Rob Reid. Second placed Mackadown Social kept in touch with the leaders with a close 5-4 home success over the Harvester.

With only one full week of fixtures remaining in the Four Oaks and District League both of the Old Oscott teams have more or less taken themselves out of the equation for the division one title. Old Oscott WMC lost 6-3 at home to divisional leaders Midland Red and Old Oscott Arrows somewhat amazingly lost 5-4 at the Pint Pot, who are next to bottom in the table.
The title will now be fought out between Midland Red and Yenton Exiles, who won 7-2 at home to Anvil Nomads and despite being two behind the Red’s have a game in hand.
In the second division it is a much more contested affair with any one of the top four teams still in with a realistic shout for the title. Barn Social are in pole position with 18 points from 11 games. Then comes Bromford Lions and the Leopard on 16 points, they have also played 11 games. Good Hope Flights are fourth in the table and although they are four points adrift of Barn, they do have a game in hand.
On the individual front J.Fletcher (Pint Pot) hit a 180, while J.Morris (Yenton Exiles) and I.Matthews (Bromford Lions) both had a 160 break and a nine darts game.

Following their 7-3 win over third placed Raven in division one of the Harborne and District Winter League, the George hold on to their two points advantage over their nearest rivals Midland Red. It’s as you were in division two as all three of the top teams recorded wins. Quinborne Flights hang on to their six points lead with an 8-2 win at Greenlands Social. Cock Inn are second and they had a 7-3 success at Avenue Social and Quinton Members Club won 8-2 as hosts to Harborne Stores.

Mitre extended their 100% record in the Small Heath League to seven games this week by beating Innisfree 7-2 at home. Custard House kept the gap between themselves and the leaders to just two points with their close 5-4 verdict at the Wagon and Horses. Biggest win of the week went to Bromford Social Club, an 8-1 win at bottom of the table Victoria, who are still seeking their first points of the campaign.
