With eight games completed in the Brookmeadow Individual League, Robert Earl continues to impress as he has dropped just two legs throughout the campaign so far and won all eight of his fixtures. In the latest round of matches Earl handed out a convincing 3-0 defeat’s to Peter Stevens and Brendan Lysaught to give him a total of 38 points, nine more than his nearest rivals Mark Elkin and Gordon Clinton, who share second place. Elkin had a 3-0 win over Paul Hogan followed by a 2-1 win against Terry Blakemore, while Clinton chalked up two 3-0 wins against Terry Blakemore and Pat Koyce.
Just two maximums were recorded this week and they were hit by Brendan Lysaught and John Goodman.

Saltley Gardeners are the new Premier Division champions of the Sheldon and District Winter League and they certainly ended their season in style as they won 8-1 at Castle Vale Residents Association. A.Caddick had a 160 break for the champions. Highwood finished as runners up with 34 points, four less than Saltley, but they did not finish their fixture card in the same fashion as they lost 5-4 at home to the Three Horse Shoes, who with 30 points were third.
In division one Glebe Community Centre won the title on 30 points, two more than second placed Hen and Chickens. The vital two points difference were gained in the final game when Glebe won 7-2 against Dovecote, defeat would have cost them the title as Hen and Chickens beat Sheldon Social 5-4.
Banbury Club are the division two champions, their final success being a 6-3 win over Small Heath Gardeners. Banbury won the title by four points from Shard End RBL, who also won their final game, beating Gunmakers Arms 5-4. K.White had a 164 finish for Shard End and C.Vann a 160 break plus a nine darts game for the Gunmakers. Other notable shots were, a 180’s from M.Noonan (St Annes), D.Timmins (Lea Hall Sports and Social), S.Darby (Yardley Ex Service) and P.Goldie (Old Bill and Bull).
Congratulations to Tony Randell, who with a straight 2-0 win in the final against Pat Sinnett lifted the league’s singles crown. Tony was in fine form throught the night beating Paul Nunn 2-0, Alan Caddick and Peter Brogan 2-1 and then in the final recording a 160 break and a nine darts game against Sinnett.

As the season has just drawn to a close, vacancies for the ever popular Sheldon and District Winter League are already being taken up. The South West Birmingham Clubs Summer League has been playing off the second round of their Bob Price Memorial Trophy. Winning through to the next round are Bournbrook Flights, Yardley Wood, Tascos Brunswick and Tascos Social, who in turn defeated Allens Cross Arrows, Northfield Conservative Club, Northfield Wanderers and Shenley Lane.
On the league front, in division one newly promoted E57 had an encouraging 4-3 win at Yardley Wood, while in the all Greenlands battle Greenlands won by a similar 4-3 margin against Greenlands Arrows.
In the second division there were 5-2 wins for Caledonian Corks and Stirchley Wanderers, while the biggest winners in the third division were Bournbrook Arrows, a 6-1 victory over Allens Cross Arrows.

Custard House and Gunmakers Arms have been involved in the semi final of the Small Heath League’s Upside Down Cup, with the former just getting the 5-4 edge. Winners for Custard House were K.Maloney, I.McLean, Darren Brown, Dave Brown and J.Probert. On target for the Gunmakers were N.Parsonage, R.Webb, K.Taylor and R.Fisher.
