A LOOK BACK IN TIME - 13.10.2004
Old Oscott WMC got the new season in the Four Oaks and District Winter League off to a fine start with a 6-3 home win over Anvil Nomads. The other three fixtures in division one all finished with close 5-4 results. Sportsmans Rest, Old Oscott Arrows and Yenton Exiles beating in turn Pint Pot, Hill Social and Midland Red. Fastest game in the first division was a ten darts leg from Yenton’s C.Henn.
In division two Bromford Lions had a convincing 8-1 home win against Boldmere Sports, while Good Hope Flights were not far behind with a 7-2 success playing away against Hardy Spicer. Barn Social had a narrow 5-4 victory at the Leopard.

The preliminary round of the Punch Bowl was on the agenda for the Sheldon and District Winter League. Banbury Club and Stechford Social chalked up the biggest wins when they defeated respective opponents Small Heath Amateur Gardeners and RAFA 7-2.
The other two fixtures both ended with 6-3 scorelines, Vaughans losing at home to Three Horse Shoes and Malt Shovel, also losing their home tie against Toby Jug.

Gunmakers Arms, second from bottom in the Small Heath Summer League provided the biggest shock this week when in their home game against third in the table Victoria 301 Club they won 5-4. Top team Station Hotel had a relatively comfortable 6-3 win at Ward End Ex Service Club, while second placed McVeighs travelled to bottom of the table Victoria Flights and returned with a 5-4 win.
Station Hotel hold on to pole position with 20 points, with McVeighs on 16 and Victoria 301 Club a further two points adrift. Fourth placed Custard House are also on 14 points, but have played two games fewer than the three teams above them. Wins in both those games in hand would see Custard House move up into second place and leave them just two points behind the leaders.

The South West Birmingham Clubs Summer League will be holding their annual presentation on Thursday 18th November at Stirchley United WMC, Hazelwell Lane, Stirchley. The evening will get underway at 8-00pm and will include a four a side knockout.

Queens lost ground in the division one title race in the Tamworth Cue Sports League this week when they went down 5-3 at the Winning Post. No change in the top two positions as leaders Globe won 5-3 at home against bottom team Red Lion ’B’ and second in the table Dolphin had a 6-2 win at the White Lion.
Red Lion ‘A’ hold on the number one spot in the second division following their 5-3 home win over the Mercian giving them a total of 19 points. Five points behind is second placed Three Horse Shoes who chalked up a 6-2 victory at home to the Boot (Grendon). Third placed Cue Sports Club took on their nearest rivals Boot (Warton) and the match finished all square at four each.
