In their first home game and second fixture of the season in the premier division of the BDO Inter Counties Championships, Warwickshire suffered their second consecutive defeat. Playing against Lincolnshire at Canley Sports and Social Club, Saturdays games saw the men and women lose 9-3 and 4-2 respectively with Steve Dwyer (28.75) and Vicki Byrne (16.93) taking the match awards.

On Sunday the ladies ’A’ gave the men’s team an outside chance of overall victory when they beat their counterparts 5-1, Viki Franklin their top player with a 21.78 average per dart. However, it was not enough to save the weekend’s result as the men went down 9-3 to give Lincolnshire a 23-13 win. Dave Honey (30.67) took the ’A’ side’s award.

West Midlands also lost their opening game of the season in division three of the BDO Inter Counties Championships, but kick started their season when in their home tie with Devon chalked up a 20-16 win. Both the ‘B’ teams recorded victories, the women won 4-2 (Leanne Jennings 16.70, lady of the match) and the men 9-3, with Viv Gould (24.93) taking the match award. The ’A’ teams did not do so well as the ladies lost 5-1 and the men finished all square at 6-6. Ian Jones (29.22) and Sara Jukes (15.41) the award winners.

Barb Social have lost pole position and dropped to sixth place in the Four Oaks and District League after going down 5-4 at Old Oscott WMC . Good Hope Flights have taken over the number one spot with a 6-3 win against Bromford Lions. Just two legs of average separate the first five teams, behind Good Hope come Hardy Spicer, Old Oscott WMC, Kingstanding Ex Servicemen’s and Midland Red.

N.Bryant and J.Kavanagh (Midland Red) both hit a maximum, while A.Haynes (Old Oscott WMC) broke with 160.

The Brook Meadow Individual League is fast approaching the end of it’s season. With just one more week remaining in the league reigning champion Robbie Earl heads the table on 126 points, but his nearest rival Mark Birch who is ten points behind has four games to play.

The Sheldon and District Winter League have been engaged in the preliminary round of their Punch Bowl. Willclare Social were the rounds biggest winners returning from Sedgemere Social with a 7-2 result. B.Biggs hit a 180 for Lea Hall Sports and Social as they accounted for Millhouse witha 6-3 margin. There were 5-4 wins for both Castle Vale residents Association and Shard End Social in turn at the expense of Pavilions and Hen and Chickens.

On the agenda for the G.U.L.P. Charity League was the quarter-finals of the L.R.Wyatt Memorial Cup and surprisingly all four matches ended with big wins. Tigers handed out a 7-0 whitewash to The Who’s, while the other three games saw Beasts, The Tribe and The Barmy Army beat their respective opponents Flights, Red Devils Club and Rebels 6-1.

With Victoria 301 Club losing 6-3 to Innisfree, Bromford Bridge Social Club ’A’, who beat the Victoria 8-1, have taken over pole position in the Small Heath League. The leaders are now the only team with a 100% record, but are closely followed by Victoria 301 Club, Custard House, Innisfree, Gunmakers Arms and Mitre, who all have six points, two fewer than Bromford Bridge S.C. ’A’.
