The Brookmeadow Individual League produced a top of the table clash this week when Gordon Clinton and Mark Elkin, who were locked together in second spot behind Robert Earl played each other. The result was a 2-1 success for Clinton, who in the process hit a maximum plus 137,125 and 100 to his opponents 125 and a ton. With a further 2-1 win over John Whitehouse, Gordon, on 46 points, has now got the second place to himself. Robert Earl continues to hold pole position with 57 points. He added two more 3-0 wins to his tally this week beating Andy Williams and Trevor Frost. Pat Koyce has taken over third place, just one point adrift of Clinton following his 3-0 wins against Terry Blakemore and Dave Downes.

An 8-1 home victory over Allens Cross has seen the Raven move into the number one spot in division one of the Harborne and District Summer League. In division two the tie between leaders, the Pheasant and third placed Travellers Rest was a high scoring affair, for the Pheasant S.Turner had a 160 break while N.Rigby hit a 180 for the Travellers. However, the 6-3 scoreline went in favour of the Pheasant to give them a clear two lead over the rest of the field. G.Butler (Coopers Arms) was another player to record a 160 break as his side chalked up a 6-3 win over Avenue Social Club.

W.C. WMC ladies kept up their good start to the new season as they beat Old Mill ’B’ 7-2, their second win in as many games to put them top of the third division table. Second placed Bartley Green Social Club Flights lost their first of the campaign going down 5-4 at the Greenlands.

The Sheldon and District Winter League have been engaged in the finals of their Divisional Cups. In the premier division Highwood took the honours with a 6-3 win over the Malt Shovel. Both the first and second division finals finished 5-4, with Harvester beating Shard End Social to the division one title and Banbury Club the second, with Yardley Ex Service runners up.

The South West Birmingham Clubs Summer League have begun their Divisional Cup play off’s and in the first round for the second division F.Fullford (Longbridge 26’ers) had a 160 break, unfortunately his team lost 6-1 to Stirchley United WMC. There was a 180 for third division’s J.Stait, whose team, Solihull Municiple handed out a 7-0 thrashing to Allens Cross Arrows, as did Shenley Lane to Moseley Cricket Club.
