A LOOK BACK IN TIME - 31.12.2003
In the premier division of the Sheldon and District Winter league, Three Horse Shoes suffered a setback to their title hopes when they lost out by 5-4 at St Annes, despite a 160 break from D.Fardon. Fordbridge Social were the biggest premier winners, chalking up a massive 8-1 scoreline at Sheldon Heath Social Dukes. Castle Vale Residents Association and Saltley Amateur Gardeners recorded 6-3 wins over respective opponents EBAHA and Malt Shoel, while Iron Horse had a close 5-4 home win over British Telecom Club.
In division one L.Allwood (Sheldon Heath Social) helped his side to a narrow 5-4 win at the Harvester, when he hit a maximum and checked out in eight darts. Solihull Borough FC were the top scorers with a 7-2 victory against Pavilions. Similarly 7-2 was the biggest margin of win in division two, supplied by Gunmakers Arms at the expense of Sheldon Shoes.
The league will get 2004 underway, when on the 6th January they stage their second round of the Punchbowl and the preliminary round of the Sheldon Shield. Draw for the Punchbowl is, British Telecom v Lea Hall Sports and Social, Highwood v Dovecote, Iron Horse v Malt Shovel, Three Horse Shoes v Castle Vale Residents Association, Pavilions v Victoria Flights, St Annes v Raven, Gunmakers Arms v Yardley Ex Service, Sheldon Heath Dukes v Saltley Amateur Gardeners.
The preliminary round for the Sheldon Shield involves just four teams, Sheldon Heath Social Club v Small Heath Amateur Gardeners, Old Bill and Bull v Banbury Club.
