Harborne 401 Summer League division one champions Midland Red proved to be far too strong for Kings Highway and ran out 8-1 winners. The match between Hillyfields and Bartley Green Social Club went down to the wire with the former just getting the 5-4 edge. J.Gaskin of the Pheasant completed his division two programme with a win to give him a 100% win record throughout the sixteen match season, Gaskin’s team also finished on a high beating Stonehouse Flights 7-2.

Peter Allen continues his push for the Minworth Social Individual League title with 3-0 wins over Richie Baker and Bill Kirkland and a 2-1 victory against Steve Bradley to give him 142 points. John Ainsworth takes over in second spot following his two 2-1 results against Ricky Lawrence and Carl Betteridge. Reigning champion Mark Hollyoake has slipped to third place despite his 2-1 win over Lance Thompson. However, Hollyoake does have two games in hand on Allen and could reduce the 18 points deficit.

Peter Allen has lost pole position in the Sportsmans Rest Double Top League after a surprising 2-1 defeat at the hands of Ricky Lawrence. As a consequence of his 3-0 wins against Gordon Clinton and Paul Cummings, David Platt takes over the number one spot with a single point advantage over Allen.
Best finish of the week went to John Morris. Playing against Jimmy Frost Morris chalked up a tremendous maximum 170 finish, he also went on to win the tie 2-1.

There was a shock for Saltley Flights, leaders of the Small Heath Summer League, as they finished on the wrong side of a 5-4 scoreline at home to Custard House ‘B’. Second placed Black Horse reduced the arrears on Flights with a 7-2 win at the Gables Tavern, leaving them only two points behind the leaders.
A final reminder that the league will be holding their AGM this coming Sunday at the Custard House, Blake Lane, Bordesley Green commencing at 11.00am, anyone interested in entering a team for the forthcoming season should either attend this meeting or alternatively ring 07973-228210 for further information.

Black Horse move into second place in the Camp Hill and District League after handing out a 9-0 whitewash to Gables Tavern. Red Devils Club drop to third in the table as they lost 6-3 to top tem Shannons.

The Longwood Summer League have been involved in their Open Cup Knockout. In the group one round two games Railway Inn and Dolphin had 5-4 wins over respective opponents Plough and Harrow and White Lion. In the final Dolphin again just got the 5-4 verdict over Railway.
In group two’s games, yet again all of the results were 5-4. Gate Inn and Mercian were the victors at the expense of Queens Head and Queens ‘B’. Gate Inn were the eventual winners.

Entries are now being accepted for the “Coventry Darts Weekend”. On Saturday 12th October the Barras Social Club, Coventry Street, Coventry, will host the Guinness Coventry Open, which for a £4.00 entry fee will pay a guaranteed amount of £400 to the winner. The following day is the Midland Open. Entry to this competition is £7.00 (£8.00 on the day) and carries a first prize of £750. There are also cash prizes down to the last sixteen players.
