The Belgrave Social Individual League has a new leader. Following last week’s shock 2-1 defeat for Steve Dwyer by Gordon Clinton, Dwyer has slipped into second place, two points adrift of the new leader Scott Mitton. Both players have completed fifteen fixtures, with Mitton on 67 points. The leading duo have opened up a lead on the rest of the field with third in the table Mick Smith back on 55 points.
In the battle of the two Winters, Carl got the better of Simon and hit no fewer than two maximums in the process. Ian Gould, Simon Winters and Steve Hawkes also hit a 180.

Rounding off their season the Forest of Arden Winter League staged their Mixed Doubles Knockout. Reigning champions, Wayne Matthews and Beattie Powell from Hobs Meadow once again reached the final, but on this occasion were unsuccessful. From the other side of the draw, Julian and Noreen Harris, team mates of Matthews and Powell, made their way to the final with victories over Mick Smith and Stephanie Didierserre (Cock and Hens) in the last eight and Andy Hinton and Sue Salter, representing Stechford Social in the semi-finals.
The final went the full three legs distance with the Harris pairing claiming the honours.
The league will be holding their annual presentation at the Sheldon Heath Social Club on Saturday 6th September.

The Dolphin power on at the top of division one of the Longwood league with a convincing 7-1 success at home to Queens ’A’, second placed Gate Inn lost ground when they could only manage a 4-4 draw in their home tie with their nearest rivals Red Lion ‘B’.
In division two the top two teams, Plough and Harrow and Two Gates Club met on the Plough’s board. The result was a not totally unexpected 4-4 draw leaving Plough and Harrow still in pole position, but only with a slightly superior average. At the other end of the table there was good news for the Jolly Sailor who chalked up their first win of the campaign, a 5-3 result against Kettlebrook. Despite their win Jolly Sailor remain at the foot of the table on two points, Kettlebrook are next to them with five points.

The Small Heath league have been in action with their League KO Cup and biggest winners of the round were Victoria 301 Club who with a 7-2 scoreline accounted for the Black Horse. Heartlands Club were not far behind as they beat Brewer and Baker 6-3, while both Ward End Ex Service Club and Custard House had 5-4 wins against respective opponents Antelope and Great Western.

Fast approaching is the Heartlands U.K. Open, which will be staged at the Heartlands Club in Aston Church Road, Nechells, in August. The good news is that there are still vacancies for the event which will include a doubles knockout on the Saturday followed by a singles competition on the Sunday.
