Twice the George got the better of W.C.WMC in the Harborne and District Winter League this week. First they beat them 11-4 in the final of the Skipp Cup and then went on to knock them out of the semi-finals of the Consolation Cup with a 6-3 result. Punchbowl are the new champions of the Wadsworth Cup after defeating a strong Bartley Green Social Club team 6-3 in the final.

In the Harborne 401 Summer League, Midland Red moved another step closer to retaining their title when they beat Highlander 6-3, T.McGlone recording a 160 break for the Red’s. S.O’Brian hit a 180 for bottom of the table Harborne Stores, but it was not enough to avoid a 7-2 defeat against Bartley Green Social Club.
In the second division the Pheasant handed out a 9-0 whitewash to Stonehouse Ladies.

Two of the title contenders in the Minworth Individual League, Mark Hollyoake and Peter Allen squared up to each other this week, the former just getting the 2-1 verdict to put him on 75 points from 18 games. Allen in fifth place is only eight points adrift with two games in hand. Second in the table John Ainsworth ahd 2-1 wins over Steve Bradley and Wayne Harrison and is three points behind Hollyoake.
No fewer than eighteen scores of 180 were hit this week by Chris Forsyth (2), Steve Davis, Richie Shenton, Pat Koyce (3), Wayne Harrison, Carl Betteridge, Steve Cain (3), Derek Fardon (2), Ian McFarlane, Peter Allen, John Ainsworth and Mick Bagley.

Peter Allen did not play in the Sportsmans Rest Double Top League and as a result has lost his pole position to David Platt. Platt sufferred a setback in his first game against third placed Steve Cain going down 2-1. However, he made a quick recovery and bounced back with a 3-0 win over Dave Hood to give him 90 points from 23 fixtures. Allen has played two fewer games than Platt and is three points behind.
In the second round of the league’s singles knockout Platt was again in top form as he swept away the challenge of Ricky Lawrence hitting two maximums in his 4-0 victory.

Hobs Meadow continued their top form in division ‘A’ of the Forest of Arden Summer League as they stormed to a crushing 9-1 win at Stechford Social. Hobs local rivals Hobs Meadow Mixes were also in good flight as with a 7-3 scoreline they accounted for the Harvester.
In division ‘B’ Three Horse Shoes made it four straight wins as they beat the Falcons 6-4. At the foot of the table Cock and Hens won their first game of the seasonas the defeated the Grange 7-3.
