Midland Red continue to lead the way in division one of the Harborne 401 Summer League after handing out a crushing 9-0 defeat to the Hillyfields. Hitting a maximum for the Red’s was J.Archer. The George had a 7-2 winat the Kings Highway aided by a 160 break from I.Gethen.
A 6-3 win at Bartley Green Social Flights maintained a 100% record for Hobsons Choice in division two, while in the local derby Stonehouse Flights beat Stonehouse Ladies 7-2, B.Honer hitting a 180 for Flights.

Following 3-0 wins over Gordon Clinton and Tony Pedley, plus a 2-1 success against Steve Brindley, Peter Allen the only undefeated player in the Minworth Social Individual League. With 28 points Allen is two ahead of second placed Lance Thompson who won 2-1 against Peter Guesford. Reigning champion Mark Hollyoake suffered a setback as he lost 2-1 to Carl Betteridge.
A total of sixteen maximums were recorded this week by Mick Smith (2), Carl Betteridge, Steve Brindley (4), Harvey Tebble, Richie Shenton, David Thomas, Mark Hollyoake, Peter Allen, Ricky Lawrence, Gordon Clinton, Ian McFarlane and Steve Davis.

The Sheldon and District Summer League kicked off their campaign and the first fixtures saw four maximums and two 8-0 whitewashes. D.Young (Three Horse Shoes) hit a 180 in his sides group one 5-3 win against St Annes, but division two saw most of the action as Iron Horse beat Dovecote 8-0 and D.Woakes (Shard End Social Flights) and A.Caddick (Saltley Gardeners) both found the three treble twenties.
In group three Sheldon Social whitewashed EBAHA and in group six there was a 180 for R.Morbey (Sedgmere Flights) which was not enough for his team to avoid a 6-2 reversal at the Old Bill and Bull.

Dave Platt was in tp form in the Sportsmans Rest Double Top League as he hit two maximums against Chris Forsyth and one against Gordon Clinton. Platt won both encounters 3-0 and as a result has taken over pole position with 73 points, eight more than his nearest rival Peter Allen. John Ainsworth also hit two 180’s as he beat Kevin McGuigan 2-1. Also finding the three top trebles were Paul Cummings, John Morris and Richie Shenton.
In the first round of the singles Richie Shenton, with 2x180 to his opponent, Paul Cummings one, progressed to round two with a 3-0 win.

There was a shock for Bournbrook Arrows in division two of the South West Birmingham Clubs Summer League, when for the first time in six games and the first time this season they lost and they did it big style. Playing at Northfield Wanderers Arrows went down 6-1. Stirchley United WMC’s poor start to division one continues as they lose again, this time 4-3 to Newbridge Summer. Not even a 180 from Kevin Mason could stop Stirchley avoiding their third defeat in five outings.

Saltley Flights and Custard House ‘A’ kept up their unbeaten run in the Small Heath Summer League with respective 8-1 and 6-3 wins at Custard House ‘B’ and Ward End Ex Service Club.
The latest winners in the league’s “Dartt’o Game are, 1st £20 No 112 (serial No AC179246), 2nd £12 No 128 (serial No AC179246), 3rd £8 No 389 (serial No AG393252).

With three wins in their opening three games in division one of the Sutton and District Summer League, Anvil top the table. Third placed Old Oscott WMC are also unbeaten, but have only played two.
In division two Yew Tree are the only team to boast a 100% win record. They began the season with a cracking 9-0 result against the Saints and the followed that with an 8-1 success against Boldmere Arrows and a 7-2 scoreline at Hardys.
