A Look Back in Time - Alan Towe 1998-12-16
Prior to this week’s fixtures in the Forest of Arden Winter League, Silver Wings had lost just two games, they were against reigning champions Hobs Meadow and current leaders Red Arrows. So it was no wonder that in their away fixture against middle of the table Mackadown Social they were favourites to win. That was not how it turned out. The match went to the final encounter between J.Allen (Mackadown) and J.Lucas and even that went to the third and deciding leg which was won by Allen.
The margin of Highwood’s win over Heart of England, 8-1 was somewhat surprising but helping them on their way was G.Brennan who hit a maximum. Another player to find the three treble twenties was Hunters Moon’s Jeanette James. Top team Red Arrows continue to impress with a 9-0 mauling of the Cornerstones, Hobs Meadow kept up the chase with a 6-3 win at Sheldon Ivy Leaf.
