There was a top of the table clash in the premier division of the Sheldon and District Winter League when leaders St Annes played at second placed Saltley Gardeners. J.Randell had a 160 break and fellow Saltley team mate T.White a 180 as they got the better of their opponents with a close 5-4 victory to take them into pole position.
Heathway maintained their unbeaten run in division one with a 5-4 win at Glebe Community Centre to keep them twwo points ahead of their nearest rivals Malt Shovel and Lea Hall RBL. Journeys End stay in the number one spot in the third division after handing out a 9-0 whitewash to Lea Hall RBL Mixed. Monica and Tipsy Gent, who prior to the latest fixtures were level on points with Journeys went down 6-3 to Sheldon Shoes and 7-2 to Old Bill and Bull respectively.

Bartley Green Social Club, leaders of the premier division in the Harborne and District Winter League scored a 7-2 win in their home game against the Hillyfieldswith L.Jordan recording a nine darts game. Lickey Banker lost their first match of the campaign when they crashed 6-3 to Midland Red. W.C.WMC, with a 7-2 win over Avenue Social stormed to the top spot in division one, aided by a nine darts game from D.Cornwell. Harborne Stores won the local derby with Stores Arrows by 8-1.
In division two Bartley Green Social Flights continued their fight for honours with a cracking 7-2 success against Highlander Ladies.

A final reminder that this coming Sunday the Birmingham “2000” Darts Open, sponsored by the Vauxhall Sports and Social Club will be palyed at the club in Duddeston Manor Road, Nechells. Registration is open till 11.45 with players toeing the oche at 12.30pm.

Dave Shorthouse, reigning champion of the Bass Breweries sponsored Minworth Social Individual League is setting the pace once again. After eight games Shorthouse is three points ahead of his nearest rivals Karl Stephens and Pat Koyce. 2-1 wins over Steve Cain and Barry Salter was Dave’s total haul this week, while Stephens, with a 180 beat Andy Smith 3-0 and Alan Mayell 2-1. Meanwhile Koyce won his game against Trevor Frost 2-1 and by the same scoreline went down to Steve Cain.
Colin Farrington and Paul Burnham hit maximums, Steve Dwyer , Dave Shorthouse and Richie Shenton all chalked up thirteen darts legs.

S.Doran was on the mark with a 180 for the Black Horse in their 7-2 win against the Shedlon Heath Flights in the Small Heath Winter League. Custard House were also won by a similar margin as they accounted for the Bear. The Saltley Flights versus Red Hill was a much closer affair with the former just getting the 5-4 verdict.

It’s close at the top of the Forest of Arden Winter League with just two points seperating the first five teams. In the battle at Hobs Meadow, Hobs Meadow Mixes lost to arch rivals Hobs Meadow 5-4, that victory putting the victors on top of the table with 10 points. Silver Wings were also 5-4 winners in their tie at Stechford Social. Wings are behind Hobs on average only. Three teams have eight points, Highwood, who beat Warwick Aero 8-1, Mackadown Social despite finishing on the wrong side of a 7-2 result against Red Arrows and Hobs Meadow Mixes.

Midland Red have stretched their unbeaten run to five games in the Four Oaks and District League with a 7-2 win at home to the Plough and Harrow. However, Castle Vale Residents, who have lost just one fixture are keeping the leaders well in their sights after an 8-1 win at Bromford Social, but spare a thought for J.Collins, who hit a 180 and R.Hawker, who broke with 160, both played for losers. R.George (M.E.B) also hit a 180 as his team went down 5-4 at Boldmere Settlers.
A similar story in division two as T.Lewis (Boldmere Mixed) found the three treble twenties and finished on the losing team, Drakes Drum winning 6-3. Not the case for Mile Oak’s P.Jones, his 180 helping his team to a 5-4 win over S.S.Mary and Johns. Leaders Good Hope suffered a 6-3 reversal at the Safe Harbour, their first defeat of the season, they do nevertheless stay two points in front of S.S. Mary and Johns and Safe Harbour.
