A 7-2 win at the Highwood consolidates Hobs Meadow’s number one spot in the Forest of Arden Winter League. With fourteen points Hobs are two points clear of their nearest rivals Silver Wings and Mackadown Social. Wings also won 7-2 in their away game against Hobs Meadow Mixes, the early season pacesetters. Meanwhile, Mackadown had a close 5-4 verdict as they played hosts to the Harvester. Red Arrows continue their revival handing out a crushing 9-0 whitewash to Cock and Hens, whose G.Smith had a 160 break.
Highest finish of the week went to W.Mathews (Hobs Meadow) who checked out on 149.

Pat Koyce continues to impress in the bass Breweries sponsored Minworth Social Individual League. His scalps this week including a 3-0 over reigning champion Dave Shorthouse, in which Koyce hit a maximum. He followed that with a 2-1 success in his tie with Paul Burnham. Rob South stays within two point of Koyce after 2-1 wins against Dennis Stokes and Gordon Clinton, South hitting a 180 against both opponents.
Top shots came from Richie Shenton, who notched two maximums in his 2-1 win over Richie Baker, Terry Constable and Mark Elkin 180. Steve Dwyer had a 135 finish and fourteen darts legs registered by Marl Elkin and Dean Grainger.
In the league’s match against the Warwickshire County Youth squad, the league came out on top with a 9-4 result. However, the Youth team will benefit from the match to the tune of £100, which was raised on the night.

It’s been cup week in the Four Oaks and District League. Making their way successfully through round two of the Brian Goodman Cup were, the Anvil, Midland Red, Castle Vale and Boldmere Settlers. In the first round of the Ken Rust Cup there was 7-2 wins for Plough and Harrow and the Mile Oak at the expense of the Bromford and Kings Arms. S.S. Mary and Johns beat their local rivals S.S.Mary and Johns Flights 6-3, while Good Hope had a close 5-4 away win at Old Oscott WMC.

Congratulations to West Midland star Wayne Jones who lifted the first prize of £400 in the Birmingham “2000” Open, played at the local Vauxhall Sports and Social Club. Jones won the title with a final 4-1 victory over Warwickshire’s Kevin Dowling, who as runner up received £100.
Losing semi finalists were Mick Bagley, who lost 4-2 to Jones and Peter Rouse, whom Dowling beat 4-3, both collected £35.

Ian Jones is the winner of the West Midlands County play off for the Embassy World Professional Championship. Jones beat Wayne Harrison 2-0 in the semi’s, Steve Parkes taking Gary Taylor out by the same margin. The final saw Jones beat his Tipton team mate by two sets to nil. Jones now goes forward to the finals at Lakeside Country Club, Frimley Green, Surrey on the 30th November.
