In the first round of the Wadsworth Cup of the Harborne and District Winter League Ladywood Social took a 3-0 lead against W.C.WMC and then suffered a shock 5-4 defeat. Similarly Highlander were 4-1 ahead in their fixture with Harborne Stores and lost 5-4 after a brilliant fightback by Stores, no such problem for the George as they romped to an 8-1 win over Village Stump, aided by a nine darts leg from R.Hildreth. Bartley Green Social Flights moved into the next round with a comfortable 7-2 success over Coronation Club, while Raven and Stores ‘B’ take their place in the hat as a result of their 5-4 wins against respective opponents New Inns and Stonehouse Flights.

The Ace of Clubs Charity team played their first competitive match at the White Lion, Muntz Street, Small Heath. Supplying the opposition was a team comprising the Gulp Charity team and a Haverfordwest select. The result was a close 9-8 to the local Ace of Clubs outfit. More importantly the exhibition game raised a fabulous £100 which was split £50 to the Acorns Hospice, Selly Oak and the other £50 going to the Haverfordwest Childrens Home.
