There are quite a few new names in the Minworth Social Individual League this season. One new addition, Scott Mitton, has quickly mad his mark on the league hitting no less than FOUR 180’s in his opening two games. His first encounter was against Dave Downes in which he hit three maximum’s in a 3-0 victory. Mitton then took on Paul Burnham and in a 2-1 win hit another 180. Not a bad start.

Dawn Barnes is another new face to the league. She opened up with a 2-1 win over Derek Farndon and hit 4x100. reigning champion Dave Shorthouse successfully began his defence beating Steve Cain 2-1 despite a 180 by his opponent.

In the penultimate fixtures of the Forest of Arden Winter League, Mick Benson (Hobs Meadow) and Tom Keating (Silver Wings) both recorded 160 breaks. Benson’s feat helped his team mates to a 7-2 win against Old Bill and Bull, while Keating’s team had a closer 5-4 verdict over the Highwood.

Mackadown Social’s bubble appears to have burst as they went down 6-3 at the Poachers Pocket.

There was a bottom of the table clash in division one of the Longwood Winter League with bottom team Queens Head hosting their nearest rivals Red Lion (Wilnecote). The result a vital 7-1 success for the Queens Head, which lifts them off the foot of the division and gives them 11 points, the same as the Mercian. Red Lion, with 10 points drop into the bottom spot. However, they do have a game in hand of the two teams above them.

The Railway have lost pole position in division two and dropped to third place after losing 5-3 at the Two Gates Club. Two Gates have moved in second place with 26 points, one adrift of leaders Wilnecote Club. Wilnecote have played one game fewer than both Two Gates and Railway.
