Congratulations to Midland Red, who with a 6-3 result have beaten the W.C.WMC and lifted the Harborne and District Winter League Wadsworth Cup. Fastest game of the final was provided by Red’s P.Brotherton, he chalked up a nine darts leg.

Midland Red are also doing well in the Harborne 401 Summer League. A 180 from T.McGlone and a 13 darts leg by D.Bourne helped Red to a 6-3 win at the Raven to maintain their position as early season pacesetters. There was a 180 for both teams as the George won 7-2 at the Hillyfields. E.Simpson was George’s top scorer and J.Leadbitter replied for Hillyfields.

Kings Highway extended their winning run in division two with a 9-0 win over Highlander Ladies. Second placed Harborne Stores kept up the pressure on the leaders with a 6-3 home win against Bartley Green Social Flights. J.Wicketts hit a maximum for Stores.

----------------------------------

The Sheldon and District Winter League decided another of their outstanding issues when they played off the finals of their Punch Bowl. In the first of the semi’s Shard End Social, who were only able to field eight players, beat Iron Horse 6-3. The second match saw Olton RBL defeat Fordbridge Social, again with a 6-3 scoreline.

In the final Olton took a 3-0 lead through Jim Norris, Dave Hutchings and Karl Attwood. Shard End bounced back and thanks to John Sabell, Bill Cadby, Bob Hawkes and Bob Carter went 4-3 up. However, in the end Shard End paid the price of being a player short. Superb wins from Rhys Duncan and Bob Vines gave Olton a narrow 5-4 victory.

Black Horse and Sheldon Heath Flights both have six points at the top of the Small Heath Sommer League. However, Sheldon have played one game less than Black Horse and a win would confirm them as clear leaders. In their latest games Black Horse had a close 504 verdict over Saltley Flights, while Sheldon had a more convincing 7-2 result against Custard House ‘B’.
