Midland Red were in fine form in their home game against the Raven in division one of the Harborne 401 Summer League. J.Archer and P.Brotherton notched a maximum each, while C.Steadman and D.Bourne both recorded 160 breaks in their team’s 5-4 win. Ladywood Social’s P.Hewitt was another player to hit a 180, but his side finished on the wrong end of a 7-2 verdict with the Highlander. I.Butler (Bartley Green Social) and S.Pasetti (Hillyfields) also hit 180’s as their team’s won 5-4 respectively against the George and Harborne Stores.

In division two, the Pheasant, with a 180 from J.GAskin had an impressive 8-1 win over Bartley Green Social Flights.

The Harborne and District Winter League will be holding their AGM on Sunday 1st September at league headquarters, the Hillyfields, Quinton Road, Harborne at 11.00am. The Aston Darts League will be holding their AGM at the King Edward, Lichfield Road, Aston on Sunday 1st September. Having both played 27 fixtures, Peter Allen now leads the Minworth Social Individual League by three points over reigning champion Mark Hollyoake. Allen continued his good form with two 3-0 wins over Derek Fardon and Leslie Newcombe to give him a total of 118 points, while Hollyoakebeat Steve Brindley 3-0 and Richie Shenton 2-1. Carl Betteridge had a 2-1 success against Richie Shenton in which he produced a terrific maximum 170 checkout.

It’s as you were at the top of the Sportsmans Rest Double Top League with Peter Allen still leading the field on 130 points. 3-0 wins against Harvey Tebble and Steve Cain jnr consolidated Allen’s number one spot and gives him a nine points advantage over second placed David Platt who beat Tony Pedley 3-0.

Peter Allen, Paul Cummings (2), Steve Cain, John Ainsworth and Chris Forsyth all hit 180’s.

After a 5-3 defeat by Stechford Social, Three Horse Shoes were quick to return to winning ways with a 5-3 win over Castle Vale residents Association to keep them in pole position in group one of the Sheldon and District Summer League.

With two games to play Hobs Meadow have already secured the group three championship with a 5-3 victory over EBAHA. With a similar scoreline Glebe Community Centre have won the group four title.

Maximums were recorded by C.Betteridge (Castle Vale Residents), T.Whitehouse (Iron Horse), B.Moore (British Telecom) and T.Hall (Sheldon Shoes).

In the top of the table clash in the Small Heath League, second placed Black Horse reduced the arrears on leaders Saltley Flights with a 5-4 victory. Despite the setback, Saltley still have a four point’s buffer. There was a shock for Custard House ‘A’ as their ‘B’ team beat them 7-2.

In the Camp Hill and District League there were 5-4 wins for Shannons and Black Horse in turn against Red Devils Club and Gables.

After beating Mercian 6-2, Red Lion ‘A’ have not only a two points lead over their nearest rivals but also a game in hand in the Longwood League. Second and third placed Queens Head and Dolphin played on the Queens board, the result finished all square at 4-4.

A couple of league’s on the lookout for new teams to join them in their next campaigns are the Small Heath League and the Camp Hill and District League. Meeting for the former will be at the Custard House, Blake Lane, Bordesley Green at 11.00am on the 8th September and for the Camp Hill League at the Railway Club, Bolton Road, Small Heath on 22nd September, again at 11.00am.
