Scott Mitton has moved back into pole position in the Belgrave Social Individual League following his 2-1 win over Steve Cain. Scott Mitton, who is just two points behind Dwyer, beat Terry Clinton 3-0 and is now only two points behind Dwyer with a game in hand.
Derek Fardon was in tremendous form in his 3-0 win over Darren Jones, chalking up three maximums in the three legs. Other players to hit the 180 were Stuart Williams, Scott Mitton, Gordon Clinton, Mick Bagley, Steve Dwyer, Steve Hawkes and Steve Hine.

A 7-2 win over the Cock Inn extended Smethwick Labour Club’s run of wins in division two of the Harborne and District Summer League to seven and at the same time kept safe their number one spot. Second placed Hobsons Choice had a close 5-4 win against bottom of the table Punchbowl to put them on the same fourteen points as Smethwick, but have played two more fixtures. Punchbowl’s D.Ubhi recorded a 160 break, while K.Wallace hit a maximum for Smethwick Labour.

The top two teams in the Small Heath League, Victoria 301 Club and Custard House met on the latter’s board, with neither of them having lost a match in the opening three games. The result was a narrow 5-4 win for the Victoria Club to put them top of the pile, opening up a two point’s gap between them and Custard House and Heartlands Club. Heartlands had an impressive 8-1 away win over Ward End Ex Service Club

It was maximum’s galore in the group one encounter between Saltley Amateur Gardeners and Sheldon Heath Social Dukes, with no fewer than four being recorded. M.Birch hit two and M.Hicks one for the Dukes, while T.White hit the other for Saltley.
Biggest winners of the week were Millhouse, who had a 7-1 success at Glebe Community Centre Flights in group five.

Congratulations to T.Corbett (Newbridge Summer) who has lifted the South West Birmingham Clubs Summer League’s singles title. Corbett won the event with a final victory over Yardley Wood’s C.Geenes.
The ladies final was an all Shenley Ladies affair with K.Cahill getting the verdict over team mate S.Reynolds.
In division two of the league E57 maintained their 100% record with a 5-2 win at Tascos Social making it nine out of nine. Longbridge 26er’s stay top of division three after a 5-2 win at Moseley Cricket Club, who despite being bottom of the table without a win so far put up a spirited performance.

£500 is the prize on offer for the eventual winners of the new Sandwell and District League, which will get it’s inauguration early in September. The match format will be five singles and one doubles with match nights be proposed at present as Thursday’s.
