It had to happen and after nine fixtures in the Belgrave Social Individual League it did. Leader Steve Dwyer undefeated in his opening eight games suffered a somewhat surprising 2-1 defeat against Carl Winters who is 24th in the table. However, Dwyer was quick to respond and bounced back to winning ways with a straight 3-0 victory over Mick Smith. Dwyer still holds on to pole position on 46 points, two ahead of Scott Mitton., who recorded a 3-0 win over Adam Duffy.
Maximums were recorded by Carl Winters, Derek Mountjoy, Steve Dwyer, Mark Slater, Derek Fardon, Steve Hawkes and Gordon Clinton.

In division one of the Harborne and District Summer League Midland Red extended their undefeated run to five games with a resounding 9-0 win over third in the table Bartley Green Social Club, with T McGlone and J.Steadman hitting 180’s for the Red’s. Raven’s 5-4 win at Ladywood Social maintains their third place, level on ten points with Midland Red but having played one game more.
Smethwick Labour continue to lead the field in division two, an 8-1 home win against Travellers Rest giving them 12 points from six games. Avenue Social are Smethwick’s nearest rivals with 10 points, their latest success a 6-3 win over the Pheasant.
As in the two higher divisions, in the third Harborne Stores upheld their 100% record after an 8-1 win at Greenlands Social’s expense. A. Quarry chalked up a 160 break for Harborne, while J. Harland (W.C.WMC) hit a 180 in his side’s 5-4 win at Highlander Flights.

The final of the Forest of Arden Winter League’s Presidents Cup was an all Highwood affair with league champions Highwood Arrows getting the better of their local rivals Highwood with a 6-1 result. The Consolation Cup went to Hobs Meadow however, they were made to fight all the way for their 5-4 victory by a very hard fighting Harvester team. In fact the first time that Hobs went ahead was in the very last game.

Despite an 7-1 win for Shard End RBL against the Glades in group four of the Sheldon and District Summer League, the honours were shared as far as maximums were concerned with C.Clarke notching one for Glades and K.Brush one for the winners. Other players on the 180 mark were T.Randell (Saltley Amateur Gardeners), J.Pears (Dovecote) and N. Parsonage (Banbury).
Biggest winners of the week were Small Heath Amateur Gardeners in group six. They beat counterparts Sedgemere Flights 8-0.

Gate Inn lost ground in the leadership race for division one of the Longwood league when the best they could offer was a 4-4 draw at home to the Globe. Meanwhile leaders Dolphin recorded a 6-2 win against Queens ‘B’ and now are top on the same 10 points as Gate but with a superior average.
Plough and Harrow did their title hopes no harm at all when they handed out an 8-0 whitewash to Kettlebrook. Second placed Two Gates Club had a 6-2 win at Cue Sports Club and are only second because of their inferior average.
