Harvester, middle of the table in the Forest of Arden Winter League, completed a notable double last week when they beat third placed Glades 5-4. Glades hang on to the position but are now only two points clear of Hobs Meadow and Highwood. Hobs beat Mackadown Social 8-1, while Highwood went down 5-4 at Red Arrows. Leaders Highwood Arrows had a 7-2 home win over Stechford Social and have a six points lead over the rest of the field.

Two teams chasing honours in the Aston league, KCA and Heartlands Club recorded good wins in their latest outings. KCA had a convincing 8-1 success at home to the Yew Tree, while Heartlands beat Old Oscott WMC 6-3, B.Cadby hitting a maximum for the winners. G.Nicholls snr (Kings Ex Service) was another player to notch a 180 as his side won 7-2 at Aston Social.

Congratulations to Sue Bagley, who after playing 29 games has recorded her first win in the Belgrave Social Individual League. Playing against Pete Guesford Sue chalked up a memorable 2-1 victory, which included a 90 game shot. Leader John Green suffered mixed fortunes as he first lost 2-1 to Mick Bagley and then went on to beat Robert Mills 3-0. On 121 points Green is ten points ahead of the rest of the field, however, he has played 32 games, matched only by Terry Clinton, everyone else has games in hand.

With only a handful of fixtures remaining in the Sheldon and District Winter League, the battle for the premier division title could not be any closer. The top four teams Saltley Amateur Gardeners, Highwood, Fordbridge Social and Malt Shovel are locked together on 26 points. In addition fifth placed St Annes, on 22 points have two games in hand and could join the top four on 26.

In division one EBAHA are two points clear of their nearest rivals British Telecom Club and have the luxury of having played two games fewer. Millhouse hold a comfortable four points lead over Lea Hall Sports and Social at the top of the second division.

Winners in round one of the Sheldon Shield were, Dovecote, Shard End Social, Fordbridge Social, Castle Vale Residents Association, Shannons, Hobs Meadow, Horseshoes and Rave.

The Sheldon and District Summer League will be holding their AGM at Lea Hall Sports and Social Club on Sunday 13th April at 10.30am. All teams interested in joining the league for the new season should attend this meeting for any further information contact either David Sutton on 0121-444-4693 or Jim Tough on 0121-707-5422.

Congratulations to Shannons who have won the Camp Hill and District League Cup with a 7-2 result against the Black Horse ‘B’, the contest being much closer than the scoreline suggests.

The top two teams in the Small Heath League, Heartlands and Custard House registered big wins as the former defeated bottom of the table Gables Tavern 9-0 and the latter won 8-1 against the Black Horse. Heartlands, who have played 12 games have 22 points, while Custard House, who have played one game fewer are just two points behind.
