Warwickshire County Darts Organisation’s woes continue in the Premier Division of the BDO Inter County Championships as they followed their opening home defeat of 23-13 to Yorkshire with a 25-11 loss away to Cornwall. This latest defeat has seen Warwickshire drop to the foot of the table on 26 points, seven short of the team above them Essex.
The Cornwall game saw both ladies teams lose 4-2 with Natalie Gilbert and lady of the match Sue Gulliver (20.96) the two winners for the ‘A’ side, Chloe McKivett and Melanie Jones were the ‘B’ team winners with Melanie taking the match award for her 17.43 average.
The men’s ‘A’ team followed up their opening day 9-3 win with a 6-6 draw, Jamie Hughes the man of the match with a super 30.33 average as he kicked off the game with a 4-3 win over Dennis Bryant coming from 1-0 down to win with winning legs of 18,16,12 and 15 darts. For the ‘B’ side it was misery once again as for the second successive fixture they lost 11-1 with Dave Hill their sole winner to take the match award with his average of 23.11.

In division one of the BDO Inter County Championships West Midlands are riding high as after their opening day 22-14 home win over Cambridgeshire they followed up with a similar 22-14 win away to local rivals Staffordshire. Saturday’s fixtures saw the ladies ‘B’ win 4-2 their top player being Heather Wright with an 18.11 average. The men’s ‘B’ finished all square at six each with Shane Price taking the match award for his top average of 29.14. Sunday’s games saw the ladies ‘A’ emulate the ladies ‘B’ 4-2 result with Sarah Roberts the lady of the match with a tremendous 26.84 average beating Anne Allsop 3-0 in 19,17 and 20 darts. The men’s ‘A’ team made it two successive 8-4 victories with Scott Baker their award winner for his 29.47 average. The fine start to the new season and the latest win has increased West Midlands lead at the top of the divisional promotion table to ten points they are on 50 with second placed Dorset having 40. There’s no change in the top four placing’s in the Premier Division of the Sheldon and District Winter League Highwood Gerry’s Boys making it four wins in as many games and holding on to pole position with a 6-3 win over Mackadown Social. Second in the division Langley Arrows played their fifth game and won 5-4 at Sheldon Marlborough Arrows to put them on the same eight points as the leaders, the top two teams are four points ahead of Raven Arrows, Sheldon Marlborough Arrows, Dunky’s Boys and Mackadown Social. Hornet with a 6-3 win over Maggies made it five straight wins in division one and head the table with ten points, however they are closely followed by Lyndon Old Boys whose 5-4 win at Yardley Ex Colts was their fourth win in four games. Holy Souls are the only undefeated team in division two their convincing 8-1 win at Langley Flights giving them a two points advantage of their nearest rivals Meadway Sports and Social who won 5-4 against The Raven. The top three teams in the Small Heath League won against the bottom three teams in week twelve, leaders East Birmingham Allotment Holders Association winning 7-2 at Emerald Club to maintain their unbeaten record while second placed Heartlands Club handed out a 9-0 whitewash to their hosts Sheldon Marlborough Flights to keep within four points of E.B.A.H.A. Leaders of the Shirley and District Monday Night League Dunky’s Boys had a bye in week 23 and second in the table Highwood took the opportunity to draw level with them on the same 40 points with a 5-4 win away to Bears who because of their defeat drop one place to sixth in the table. Although now level on points with Dunky’s Highwood have played one game more than them. The Lion are third in the table, their 5-4 home win over Legion Flights keeping them just two points behind Highwood and with a game in hand but they do trail heavily on average. There was a top of the table clash in group one of the South Birmingham League when leaders C’s Hot Shots took on second placed Centurion. The outcome was a 4-4 draw with Hot Shots now requiring just one point from their final game to secure the title as they are on 16 points from nine games and Centurion have 12 from eight games. The top two teams in the Camp Hill League White Swan Nomads and Roost Rebels both extended their unbeaten records in week five Nomads taking their run to five games with a 5-2 home win over North Star and Rebels who are second in the table having played four games won by the same 5-2 margin at Sedgemere Devil’s Club. Third and fourth placed Emerald Club and Tyseley WMC are both on the same eight points as Roost Rebels but have played one game more than them, Emerald suffering their first loss in five as they went down 4-3 at Tyseley WMC but stay ahead of their victors with a superior average. There were disappointing results for third and fourth placed teams in the Stourbridge and District Monday Night League Ten Arches and Stourbridge RBL as they both lost 6-3 playing away against respective opponents Gigmill, who are fourteenth in the table and The Swan, who are eleventh. As an outcome of their defeats both Ten Arches and Stourbridge RBL drop one place in the table. No such problem for leaders Brickmakers Arms as they handed out a 9-0 whitewash to their visitors, bottom of the table Kingswinford Conservative Club to keep intact their four points lead over second in the table Britannia who added a 6-3 win at Rose and Crown to their account. Making it 22 wins in 23 games in the Netherton Thursday Night League were leaders Dudley Ex Serviceman’s Club with a 6-3 home win over second in the league Riddins Tavern who have played two more games than their opponents and are nine points behind them. Third in the table Bulls Head had a 7-2 home win over Netherton Conservative Club to move to within six points of Riddins with three games in hand and with three points for a win they could take over from Riddins in the number two spot, plus they will play the Ex Serviceman’s Club twice in the last few games and should they win all of their games and the Ex Serviceman’s lose all theirs they could actually win the league but that in reality is very doubtful. The Brierley Hill Monday Night League has been engaged in the finals of their League Cup and winning through to the final with a 7-2 win over Limes Club was current league leaders Dudley Ex Serviceman’s Club ‘A’, their final opponents being Rose and Crown who took out High Oak with a close 5-4 success in the semi-finals. The fine form of Dudley Ex Serviceman’s Club ‘A’ continued in the final as they swept aside the challenge of Rose and Crown to win 5-2. Third in the table Glasscutters ‘B’ are nine points off the top of the table but that deficit can be reduced to five as they have two games in hand on both of the two teams above them. Hot on the heels of the leaders is second placed Dolphin Wanderers whose 6-3 win over local rivals Dolphin not only keeps them level on eight points with Belgrave Sports and Social but also takes their unbeaten record to four like the top team. Birchmoor Club and Aldergate Club are third and fourth respectively and are both just two points adrift of the leading duo. Week 28 in the Wolverhampton Tuesday Night League was a bad week for Railway as they lost ground in the singles division title race when they were beaten 5-2 at home by fifth placed Wednesfield Conservative Club. As a result of their defeat and leaders Riley’s ‘C’ winning 6-1 against Village Inn Railway have dropped to third in the table and are now trailing Riley’s ‘C’ by some eight points with just one game in hand. Gilberts Bar with a 5-2 win at Pendulum have moved up into second place on the same 36 points as Railway who have three games in hand on them. In the doubles division Railway kept within four points of, once again leaders Riley’s ‘C’ with a 2-1 win over Wednesfield Conservative Club while Riley’s ‘C’ won by the same margin against Village Inn. A 6-3 home win over New Inn was not enough for Lamp Tavern to hold on to pole position in the Sedgley and Gornal Tuesday Night League as reigning champions Old Bulls Head beat Pensnett Liberal Club 9-0 to take over at the top of the table on average as both they and Lamp have won all of their opening five games. Third in the league Netherton Cricket Club are the only other team in the league besides the top two to have won all five games their latest success being a close 5-4 verdict at White Lion. There’s no change in the top four placing’s in the Premier Division of the Sheldon and District Winter League Highwood Gerry’s Boys making it four wins in as many games and holding on to pole position with a 6-3 win over Mackadown Social. There was a top of the table clash in group one of the South Birmingham League when leaders C’s Hot Shots took on second placed Centurion. Week 28 in the Wolverhampton Tuesday Night League was a bad week for Railway as they lost ground in the singles division title race when they were beaten 5-2 at home by fifth placed Wednesfield Conservative Club. As a result of their defeat and leaders Riley’s ‘C’ winning 6-1 against Village Inn Railway have dropped to third in the table and are now trailing Riley’s ‘C’ by some eight points with just one game in hand. Gilberts Bar with a 5-2 win at Pendulum have moved up into second place on the same 36 points as Railway who have three games in hand on them. A 6-3 home win over New Inn was not enough for Lamp Tavern to hold on to pole position in the Sedgley and Gornal Tuesday Night League as reigning champions Old Bulls Head beat Pensnett Liberal Club 9-0 to take over at the top of the table on average as both they and Lamp have won all of their opening five games.
