Alan Towe’s The Line – Ripley Elite Darts Singles League

The Ripley Elite Darts Singles League have got their winter season underway and it comprises two divisions each with twenty six players.

The premier division has an array of talented players all bidding for the coverted title. Pre season favourites include reigning champion Darron Brown, the summer league champion Phil Henshaw, Gary Fenn, Ash Spencer, PDC youth player Aden Kirk plus many more likely contenders.

Ash Spencer has begun the season in top form recording no fewer than three 30 plus averages in the first three weeks and remains unbeaten at the time of going to press after six weeks fixtures have been played. Gary Fenn is another undefeated player, he also has the highest average so far, one of 31.71.

Spencer has hit the most maximums so far, currently eight from five games, while Reece Spurr, with 151 has the highest finish so far.

Season on season the league attracts more and more great players, but with the rules stating all new players start at the bottom they have to prove themselves in division one. Newcomers this season are, Steve Darcy, Rich Palmer, Daz Gilbert, Ray Sallis and Lee Stanley. Rich Palmer has got off to a good start winning all six of his opening fixtures and in the process only dropping one leg out of thirty. Rich holds the division one best average of 30.43 proving he can mix it with the league’s best and hoping he will be one of the six promoted to the premier division at the end of the campaign.

Two of the other new players, Daz Gilbert and Ray Sallis share the division’s highest finish of 130m while six players have hit a maximum and there are several who have chalked up thirteen darts legs.
