Andy Fordham Commits his Future to Winmau

Winmau, the world’s leading darts brand, has announced a five-year extension of its sponsorship and equipment deal with 2004 BDO World Champion, Andy "The Viking” Fordham.

Fordham, who is also the 1999 Winmau World Masters champion and undoubted star of the PDC’s Grand Slam of Darts in 2015, began his association with Winmau in 2005. By extending the relationship he will continue to use Winmau equipment and wear the company’s logo at all major events.

The agreement will also enable 54 year-old Fordham to continue to work with Winmau’s Research and Development team to help shape the products of tomorrow.

Andy’s battle with his health is well documented and his determination, humility and honesty have ensured that one of the most recognisable players on the professional circuit has become a well-loved and popular household name.

Ian Flack, Winmau’s Sales and Marketing Director said: "Like a true Viking, Andy has fought his way back from ill health to regain his form, as his qualification from a field of 200 players for the 2015 Grand Slam of Darts shows. Andy is one player who has truly earned the status of legend, and the proof can be found by the sheer amount of people that ask for his autograph on a daily basis!”

Fordham, who has fought his way back into the top 50 players on the BDO circuit, is focused on trying to climb further up the rankings to qualify for the 2016 Winmau World Masters and 2017 Lakeside World Championships in a seeded position. "Winmau have been by my side since 2005. Their loyalty and support transcends that of a normal sponsor; they are true partners and I count many of the people there as friends. My form continues to improve and my enthusiasm for the game has never been stronger. The decision to extend my relationship with Winmau was one of the easiest I have ever had to make,” says Andy.
