Back-to-back for Mighty Mike

Michael van Gerwen shines bright in the Premier League earning back-to-back wins in Exeter & Brighton!

The Green Machine is back running at full speed after beating Michael Smith in the Final on Night 5. The Final was a classic, with Smith looking to redeem himself after a disappointing result in the UK Open last week. MvG was full with confidence and showed it on the oche after taking down Bully Boy 6-4.

MvG’s road to topping the table started with a tough game against James Wade. Michael’s scoring power was dominant but was he let down by 15 match darts which allowed Wade to stay in the game right to the end. The fixture resulted in a 6-5 win for MvG.

The World Number 2, Gerwyn Price was absent from the event due to an injury which allowed Joe Cullen to get a bye with a 6-0 win, landing him in the semi-final spot against MvG. The Dutchman didn’t give Joe a chance to warm up on the board hitting a ton average and finishing the game in a dominate 6-1 win.

Smith picks up three valuable league points thanks to wins over Gary Anderson and Jonny Clayton to lift him off the foot of the table.

Losing Semi-Finalists Clayton and Cullen leave Brighton with two points each, with Clayton defying a ten-point gap in the averages in his 6-5 quarter-final victory over birthday boy Peter Wright, who drops to second in the table.

The Cazoo Premier League roadshow heads to Nottingham's Motorpoint Arena on Thursday March 17 for Night Six of the league phase, as Van Gerwen meets Price in a mouth-watering clash.

The night's other Quarter-Finals will see Wright take on Cullen, Smith up against Wade and Anderson face Clayton as the £1 million tournament resumes.

The Cazoo Premier League is being broadcast live on Sky Sports in the UK, through the PDC's worldwide broadcast partners including DAZN and Viaplay, and on PDCTV for Rest of the World Subscribers (excluding UK, Ireland, Germany, Austria & Switzerland).
