Article: Beaton’s Blog - WIGAN WEEKEND 26TH/27TH NOVEMBER

Beaton’s Blog - WIGAN WEEKEND 26TH/27TH NOVEMBER

This was a very important weekend at the Robin Park Tennis Centre in Wigan.

The last two Pro Tour events of 2011 that would confirm the line up of the Players Championship Finals, which are being held at the Doncaster Dome 8th-11th  December and televised by ITV 4.

On the Saturday I made it all the way to the Semi’s, my best Pro Tour result this year.

My first round opponent was Steve Hine, a tough game that went all the way with me winning 6-5.
I then defeated Adrian Bolitho 6-2, Kevin Painter 6-1, Wes Newton 6-2 and Michael Van Gerwen in the Quarters in my second close battle of the day 6-5.
Michael Van Gerwen is in terrific form.
I then lost to Phil Taylor in the Semi’s 6-0, I never really got into the game, and Phil went charging ahead and finished with a 112 average.

Phil went on to win the tournament beating Ronnie Baxter 6-1 in the final.

On the Sunday I made it to the Quarter Finals and this is how the day went.

I started with a bye. In the second round I defeated Adam Hunt 6-5 and wow didn’t he play well.
In the third I beat Mark Hylton 6-2 and fourth Peter Hudson 6-1.
I then lost 6-2 in the Quarters to someone called Phil Taylor for the second time in the weekend.

I had been playing great darts all weekend so I was then wishing Phil had stayed at home!!!!!

Phil again went on to win the tournament 6-4 against Justin Pipe in the final.

Phil has certainly carried on his brilliant form from the Grand Slam, he is playing awesome darts.

I’m now looking forward to the Finals in Doncaster, so it’s back to the practice board now.

Congratulations to Arron Monk and Joe Cullen who won the final two places in the 2012 Ladbrokes.com World Darts Championships today.

Happy Darting Steve
