CAPTAIN AMERICA EXTENDS COMMITMENT TO WINMAU!
US darts star Jim "Captain America” Widmayer has extended his sponsorship with Winmau, the world’s leading darts brand, for a further three years.
The 46 year old from Staten Island, New York, is also supported by Winmau’s U.S. distributor, Dutchman Darts, who are the exclusive stockists of Jim’s darts range.
Currently ranked 7 by the American Darts Organisation and 44 by the British Darts Organisation (BDO), Widmayer signed with Winmau in 2013 and is a multi-time winner on the US circuit. In addition, he reached the last 16 of both the Lakeside World Professional Darts Championship and World Darts Trophy last year.
Jim will be participating in the £150,000 BDO World Darts Trophy again this year alongside Winmau teammates Scott Waites, Trina Gulliver MBE, Ted Hankey, Andy Fordham, Scott Mitchell, Jeff Smith, Danny Noppert and Ann-Louise Peters.
"Winmau and Dutchman Darts have been massive supporters of the sport in the U.S. It’s a real honour to be able to continue my association with them both, and to be able to contribute to their continued success,” says Widmayer. "I’m playing really well at the moment and hope to be competing in the final stages of major events again this year.”
Ian Flack, Winmau’s Sales and Marketing Director, adds: "Jim has been a fantastic ambassador for darts and for Winmau in the U.S.A. He’s already proven himself to be a contender on the world stage and I’m sure he will continue to climb the rankings. I was delighted when Jim decided to sign with us three years ago, and I’m excited at what the next three years will bring.”
