Champions Return To Defend Titles
All three of the 2016 champions have qualified to return to defend their titles at the 7th Streamline Taxis York Open Darts Championship Grand Finals taking place at Huntington WMC in York on Saturday 5th August 2017.
David Copley, the newly appointed Captain of Yorkshire, will be defending his Open Title whilst Jo Hodges (Ladies) and Leighton Bennett (Youth under 18) will both be hoping to repeat last years victories.
The overall Order of Merit Winner was Yorkshires Mark Lawrence who won two out of the eleven events he played in. Was a Runner-up in three events and also made two Semi-final appearances.
The Highest Ranked Lady was York's Jo Hodges and the Highest Ranked Youth (under 18) was Leeds Tom Dawson
York's Richie Corner and Chris Quantock will be absent from this years Grand Finals as they are playing at a PDC event and Andy Cairns from Hull has work commitments so these three players are taken out of the list and everyone moves up to ensure we have forty-eight players at the Grand Finals which are taking place on Saturday 5th August 2017 at Huntington WMC in York. Players have to be in the venue by 1pm for a 1,30pm start.
The Top 16 players are seeded into Round 2 and players Ranked 17 to 48 will go into the draw for the First Round. The winners will then join the Top 16 in Round 2 where this will be drawn out. Each round thereafter is then re-drawn as in the FA Cup to add to the interest. This is the only time and event that we use this type of draw.
Spectators are more than welcome and it is free entry.
All players please note you must register and be in the venue by 1pm for a 1.30pm start. If you are not in the venue you will be timed out, eliminated from the competition and forfeit any prize money due. There will be no exceptions to this rule so please don't be late.
