Crawley darts star qualifies for World Championships

CRAWLEY Super League player Tony Ayres has made it through to the PDC World Championships at Alexandra Palace having beaten Jim Withers 5-2 in the final qualifying round at the Telford International Centre.

Ayres started the day with a 5-2 victory against Surrey^s Aaron Turner before going on to beat Tony Blundell and fellow Crawley Super League player Martin Burchell with 5-0 wins and then knocked out No.1 seed Mick McGowan 5-4.

The 2008 Three Bridges Masters will be played this Sunday, December 14, and features 16 of the best players from the south-east of the country along with the 2008 BDO World Championships runner-up Simon Whitlock.

More than 700 pounds in prize money is on offer with the winner of the knockout competition will receive £250, the runner-up £125, semi-finalists £60, quarter-finalists £30 and first round losers £15.

Play begins at 1pm. A 1001 one leg open knockout competition precedes the main event with entries closing at 10.30am for an 11am start.
