Darryl Sheehan wins Red Dragon Masters Qualifiers

Saundersfoots Darryl Sheehan beat Johnny Clayton 4 legs to 3 in a great final to claim the Scarlet’s Masters Title.

The event sponsored by Red Dragon and hosted at the Parc Y Scarlet’s was to get 2 qualifiers for next week’s show piece event the Scarlet’s Masters.

The players threw a 9 dart highest score and the top 8 scores went through to a seeded knockout.

The 9-dart qualifying stage was be rapid fire, with 3 games playing on stage and 6 practice boards in use ,the scores built superbly as the night went on.

Final qualifying spot was sat on 272 for over an hour, when Mike Blair stepped up and hit 282 on his last 9 darts to claim the 8th spot.

The winner of the qualifying stage was Pro Tour player Kelvin Thomas, who threw a superb 420.

Marshall James, Lakeside Beaten finalist narrowly missed the top 8, and it was great to see so many none event players having a go.

Simon Hall Head of Marketing for Red Dragon said "We^ve worked with the Parc Y Scarlet’s for a few years on their Scarlet’s Masters,  but it was too great to get involved in a grass roots qualifier ahead of next Fridays event. We chose a format that everyone could enjoy and have more than one go at, to avoid players losing in round one”.
