Darts: Men Beat Women At Darts

The men^s team of Jim Sheridan, Dave Aldcroft, Wayne Chambers and Tim Stroud came out on top at the women against the men dart tournament on Sunday at the Moose Lodge.

The men defeated the women^s team of Gayle Quinn, Dorothy Cotter, Joan Sibley and "fair lady" Bill Madigan. High scores went to Ivan Broughton and Joan Sibley while the high outs went to Steve Harrigan and Joan Sibley.

MAJOR MIDGET TERRIERS END SEASON IN SEMIFINAL

The season came to an end for the Orillia Kelsey^s major midget Terriers, losing to the Stouffville Clippers 6-5 in Game 3 of the York Simcoe semifinal series.

The Clippers, who swept the Terriers, will await the winner of Markham and Bradford to vie for the York Simcoe Championship.

In the final game, Orillia goal scorers were Matt Brown with a pair while Ryan Lay, Riley McNeely, and Brent Harvey each scored singles. Brown, Lay, Ethan Atkinson and Logan Webb each added a pair of assists with singles going to Cody Scott and Keith Fortney.

NOVICE AE TERRIERS STAVE OFF ELIMINATION

The Thor Motors novice AE Terriers split a pair of weekend games in their OMHA semifinal series against Aurora.

On Friday evening the young Dogs opened up a 3-0 lead mid-way through the second period but surrendered six unanswered goals in the last 15 minutes of the game to lose 6-3.

Goal scorers for the Terriers were Justin Harrington, Jordan Burnett and Matthew Anthony. Assists went to Owen Downer, Cam Brassard and Carson Keddy.

Down 2-0 in the series and facing elimination on Sunday afternoon, the Orillia team showed a lot of heart and determination in defeating the visiting Tigers 4-3.

Carson Keddy scored the winner on the powerplay with three minutes to play to keep the team^s playoff hopes alive. Other goal scorers were Ethan Sleep, Ethan Quarrington and Cam Brassard. Assists went to Justin Harrington and Ian Clifford.

Goaltender Nick Rasetta made two brilliant saves on Tiger breakaways to preserve the victory.
