Darts News – A West Midlands Report By Alan Towe
After a heavy defeat away to Lancashire in their recent premier division fixture in the BDO Inter County Championships, Warwickshire bounced back in the best possible way with a 21-15 home win over Cambridgeshire.
Both ladies teams finished all square with a 3-3 result, Trina Gulliver (23.48) and Donna Pinch (19.31) taking the respective ‘A’ and ‘B’ team’s match awards.
The men’s ‘B’, like the ladies shared the points with a 6-6 draw, their top man being Ted Evetts with a 26.26 average. The ‘A’ side were in top form romping to an unassailable 8-0 lead and going on to win 9-3, Jamie Hughes the man of the match with a 29.47 average.
The win has seen Warwickshire overtake their opponents in the league table and move up into fifth place with 116 points, just five behind third placed Cheshire.

In division two of the BDO Inter County Championships West Midlands played hosts to Suffolk, their 18-18 draw did nothing to lift them away from the foot of the table leaving them four points ahead of bottom team Wiltshire and two behind Merseyside who are just above them.
The weekend provided mixed results for both the men and ladies as the ladies ‘B’ won 4-2 and the ‘A’ lost 4-2, the respective award winners being Sarah Roberts (22.43) and Gemma Barrett (17.43).
The men’s games saw the ‘B’ lose 7-5 with Danny Coyle (27.21) winning the match award and the ‘A’ winning by the same margin with Ian Jones their top man with a tremendous 31.31 average.

Crown at Olton held on to their four point’s lead at the top of the premier division of the Sheldon and District Winter League with a 7-2 win at The Raven, while second placed Crown at Shard End won their home game with Sheldon Dukes 6-3.
A close 5-4 win for Banbury Club at Sheldon Heath Social keeps them in pole position in division one but Castle Vale Stadium are only two points behind them with two games in hand.
Crown-Forget-Me-Not lead the way in division two with a slender two points lead over Maggies.

In division one of the Four Oaks and District League Brookvale Social dealt a hammer blow to Sutton Sports hopes of retaining their title when they beat them 5-4 to leave them four points adrift of leaders The Beehive who had a 7-2 home win over Old Oscott Arrows and with only three game remaining it appears there will be a new name on the silverware.
In division two the top two teams squared up to each other and the outcome was a 6-3 win for second in the table Boldmere Sports to put them level on the same 20 points as Golden Hind and trail by just a couple of legs of average.
Anvil Nomads have taken over the top spot in division three after handing out a 9-0 whitewash to their visitors Boldmere Oak. Former leaders The Fox had a bye and are now two points behind with a game in hand.

After two fixtures in the Halesowen Monday Night Ladies League nothing can separate the top two teams Black Horse and Spring Meadow who are level on points and average. In the latest games Black Horse won 5- 2 at Townsend while Spring Meadow went one better with a 6-1 home win against Haden Cross. It was a good week for The Widders as they chalked up their first win of the season a 5-2 success against Hare and Hounds.

The Warwickshire Men’s Super League is looking very much like a two horse race as leaders Brandon have 82 points from 14 games and second in the table Coventry Bishopsgate have 81 from 15 games. Then comes a gap of 17 points to third placed Birmingham Court Oak, who like the leaders have played 14 games.
Highest average so far is a tremendous 34.95 supplied by Jamie Hughes, the highest finish by Mark Westgarth and Prakash Jiwa is 161 and least darts of eleven recorded by Ian McFarlane, Noel Grant and Jamie Hughes.

Only average separates the top two teams in division one of the Forest of Arden Winter League, a 7-2 win against Harvester keeps Highwood ‘A’ just ahead of Olton Crown who beat Riley’s Red Arrows 6-3 putting both teams on 20 points. Third placed Journeys End won 6-3 at Greville Arrows but are six points adrift of the leading duo.
In division two Iron Horse took their unbeaten run to eleven games in style as they handed out a 9-0 whitewash to their hosts Sheldon Flights to give them a four points lead over second in the table Highwood ‘C’, who have a game in hand.

Just three games in the Small Heath League this week which saw top team Gulp win 5-3 at home to Emerald Flights. Second placed Mitre won 8-1 away to Sheldon Marlborough Flight to keep them level on 18 points with Gulp but having played one game more.
