The South Birmingham League played off both their ladies singles and doubles knockouts, in the former both the semi finals finished with straight 2-0 wins for Charlie Kingdon and Diane Hudson who in turn defeated Nicky Harris and Louise Beale. As in the semis the final also had a 2-0 result which went to Charlie Kingdon. Lee Molyneux remains in pole position in the Sheldon Social Dukes In House League after a close 2-1 win over Gary Groves, giving him 24 points from 11 games. Sean O’Donnell had a clear cut 3-0 success against former league leader Paul Sunner to take him into second place in the table just three points behind Molyneux with two games in hand. Sunner’s defeat saw him slip from second to joint third with Paul Curry, both players on the same 21 points as O’Donnell but they have played 10 games as opposed to his 9. Curry was a 3-0 winner against Mark O’Donnell. Journeys End Flights opened up a two points lead over their local rivals Journeys End at the top of the Forest of Arden Summer League when they beat Kingshurst Knights 6-3. Third placed Highwood KB were also 6-3 winners in their fixture with Highwood Arms to leave them four points off the top on 12 points. Dudley Sports ‘B’ were the only losers in the top five teams in the Brierley Hill Monday Night League, a somewhat surprising 6-3 home defeat at the hands of a Roebuck side who are twelfth in the table. Leaders Dudley Ex Serviceman’s Club stay ahead of Bulls Head (Netherton) on average after their 7-2 home win over Dudley Sports ‘A’ while Bulls Head won 6-3 at New Talbot. Third in the table Delph Bell also won 6-3 against the Swan while fourth placed Mount Pleasant’s 8-1 win away to bottom team Limes Club was the highest score of the week. With Mark Gwalchmai not playing in week five of the Shirley Red Lion Premier League Steve Sidwell was quick to replace him in pole position, however he was unable to take full advantage as he was held to 2-2 draws by both Mick Bown and Antony Daly to give him a total of 32 points just one more than Gwalchmai who now has a game in hand. There were first wins of the season for both Luke Coles and Nick Walker as Coles beat Walker 3-1 after Walker had won by the same margin against Steve Heeks. A 6-3 win at Queens has seen Ten Arches ‘A’ open up a two points lead at the top of the Stourbridge and District Monday Night League after their ‘B’ side, who are second in the table lost 5-4 at home to fourth in the table Brickmakers Arms. The Winmau Darts Centre in the Wolverhampton Indoor Community Sports Arena played off the fourth in their series of knockouts and taking the top prize with a final 6-1 win over the previous week’s champion Mark Craddock was Matt Padgett, who won the very first of the current series of knockouts. A top of the table clash between Cotterils Lane Club and Hay Mills Social Club Lions in the Camp Hill League saw leaders Cotterills extend their advantage to six points and take their unbeaten run to eighteen games when they won 4-3 at Hay Mills. Hay Mills hold on to second place and still have an eight points lead on third in the table Holy Gulp who won 5-2 at Emerald Club and have played one game fewer than Hay Mills. There was also a first defeat for Pensnett Welfare ‘B’ again the margin was 4-3 in their tie at Netherton Cricket Club ‘B’. Taking over at the top of the table is Brickmakers Arms ‘A’, their convincing 6-1 win at Britannia giving them a maximum eight points and a two point’s lead over the rest of the field. After completing 22 of a scheduled 30 fixtures in the Rowley Monday Night League just two points separate the top two teams. The Netherton Thursday Night League had their singles knockout on the fixture card, the semi finals saw Phil Tonks defeat brother Antony Tonks 2-0 and Kevin Barnfield win by the same margin against Mark Cooper. Phil Tonks carried his fine form into the final where in what turned out to be the last leg he narrowly missed out on a perfect nine darts game after hitting two consecutive maximums, nevertheless he went on to lift the title with a final 3-1 result over Kevin Barnfield. The Black Country Premier Darts League are up to week three of their new season and currently five teams are on five points at the top of the table. Woodside Poachers head the table on average following their 12-1 win at Olde Queens Head Hunters, they are closely followed by Blackheath Beechers who won 10-5 at Shovellers. Third placed Black Country Belters had a 12-0 win away to Brick Ay We while Britannia Bulldogs, who are placed fourth were held to an 8-8 draw at home by Halesowen Hunters who make up the top five. Week 23 games in the Hilltop Friendly Tuesday Night League made no difference whatsoever to the league table, leaders Dewdrop had a close 4-3 home win over Old Hop Pole to keep them eight points to the good on second placed Waggon and Horses who handed their hosts New Talbot a 7-0 whitewash to maintain their two points advantage over Island Inn in third place. Richard Reed did his title aspirations in league one of the Yeltz Bar Tuesday Night 501 Singles League no harm whatsoever when he beat Tony Duncan 5-0 to give him 92 points from 22 games plus the top position in the league. Second placed Tommy Johnson didn’t play this week and now has three games in hand on Reed and trails him by ten points. After a 5-0 win over Doug Richmond third placed Loz Slater is on the same 82 points as Johnson but he has played two games more than his rival. In league two Mark Bayliss made it six wins in as many games when he defeated Anthony Williams 5-0 to put him eight points clear of his opponent who is second in the table. The Royal, Albrighton staged the latest of their knockouts which saw Shifnal’s Steve Richie take the top prize of £130 when he beat Pat Pace (Gnosall) 6-3 in the final, Pace collecting £60. Both semi final games finished 5-2 with Richie beating Chris Hill (Willenhall) and Pace winning against Steve Gillam (Wednesbury), the two losers receiving £15 each. The Plate knockout for first round losers was won by Mark Smith (Bromsgrove) who picked up £30, Smith beating Kat McLean (Shifnal) 3-2 in the final McLean received £15 for runner up. Riley’s ‘C’ had a comfortable 7-0 win against the Bull in the division one singles league of the Wolverhampton Tuesday Night League to keep them four points ahead of second placed Sunbeam who won 6-1 at Riley’s ‘A’. In division two of the singles league leaders Dog and Partridge had a surprising 4-3 defeat away to fourth in the table Roebuck who are ten points behind them. In the division two doubles league top team Wednesfield Legion had a shock 2-1 home defeat by Shed who are only three places off the bottom of the table.
