Avenue C.Fox continue to dominate the Kings Norton League their latest 6-1 win away to fifth in the table E57 giving them 34 points from 18 games and a lead of four over second placed Bournebrook who have played one game more than the leaders after their closer 4-3 win against Weoley Hill. Third placed Rubery RBL lost ground in the title race as they lost 4-3 at Harborne C.Fox to leave them eight points off the top and despite having a game in hand on Bournebrook are four points behind them. Only average separates Cock Inn and E57 from Rubery as all three are on the same 26 points, Cock Inn winning 6-1 against Dingle. The South Birmingham League have been engaged in round one of their Knockout Cup which saw league leaders C’s Top Guns win 8-1 against local rivals C’s Bullets. Another local derby saw C’s Hot Shots beat C’s Flights 5-4 and with the same scoreline second in the league Banbury Arrows won at Coleshill Social. To make up the last four teams third in the league table Centurion had a convincing 7-2 win over next to bottom of the table Smithswood Social. The Four Oaks and District Winter League got the second half of their season underway and the best match to start the half in division one came from two middle order rivals Walmley CSC Arrows and Pint Pot Flights with the former winning 6-3. Between them there were no fewer than 38 scores of a ton or more with 23 of them going to the winners, the remaining games in the division all produced 7-2 wins for the top three teams Boldmere St Mikes. Boat and Golden Hind, who in turn accounted for Erdington Arrows, Bishop Vesey and Old Oscott Arrows. Red Lion remain top of the second division defeating St Thomas Arrows 7-2 while second placed Walmley CSC Flights won 6-3 at Rosey Mac’s to leave them two points behind Red Lion. In the third division the top two teams had comfortable wins, leaders Rosey Mac’s Leopard beating Deers Leap 6-3 and second placed Oscott Social Club winning 8-1 against Sutton Sports to keep within two points of Leopard. Just one rearranged fixture was played in the Small Heath League which saw East Birmingham Allotment Holders Association beat Wagon and Horses 8-1 to replace Heartlands Club at the top of the table. Currently E.B.A.H.A are on 36 points, Heartlands 34 with only one leg of average the difference between the two but the last game of the season will be a title decider as the two teams will play each other and the winner of that game will become champions, should be quite a tense and exciting fixture. In game number 22 in the Stourbridge and District Monday Night League leaders Brickmakers Arms were the only winners in the top three teams as they won 5-4 at home against third placed Ten Arches and second in the table Britannia lost by the same margin at British Oak who are seventh in the league. The results mean Brickmakers now have played an unbeaten 22 games and have a lead over the rest of the field of a massive ten points. At the other end of the table there were 8-1 defeats for the bottom two teams as bottom team Hare and Hounds lost at home to Stourbridge RBL and next to bottom Kingswinford Conservative Club went down by the same score at Church Tavern. After a surprising 6-1 home defeat by Tyseley WMC, Emerald Club have been ousted from their number one spot in the Camp Hill Marston’s League and replaced by Nomads who won 5-2 at Marlborough Star to give them a two points advantage over Emerald who drop to second place. Tyseley remain in third place but with 20 points are now only two adrift of Emerald Club. The Rowley Monday Night League have got their new season underway and the early pacesetters are last season’s runners-up the George who handed their hosts Ivy Bush a 9-0 whitewash. The Sedgley and Gornal Tuesday Night League had cup semi-finals on their fixture card first the John Walters Knockout Cup in which league leaders Old Bulls Head with a 5-4 win over Gornal British Legion made their way into the final where they will take on second in the league and level on 26 points with them Lamp Tavern who won 7-2 against Netherton Cricket Club. In the John Walters Knockout Trophy there were 6-3 wins for Red Cow and Jolly Crispin who defeated respective opponents Pensnett Liberal Club and Meadow Lark. The Brierley Hill Friday Night League played round one of their two legs League Cup in which Pensnett Welfare Club will take a 6-1 lead into the second leg against Netherton Cricket Club while Brickmakers Arms ‘B’ will hold a 5-2 advantage over their ‘B’ team in the next leg. Highwood Gerry’s Boys made it eight wins in nine in the premier division of the Sheldon and District Winter League when they won 8-1 against Kingshurst Labour Club and with a late result for leaders Dunky’s Boys against third in the division Langley Arrows, Gerry’s Boys have now moved to within two points of Dunky’s with a game in hand plus a superior average. Division One leaders Hornet have lost just one of their eleven games the latest of which saw them win 6-3 at Yardley Ex Colts to open an eight point’s gap between them and second played Hobs Mead who lost 5-4 playing at third placed Maggies who now have the same 12 points as Hobs but have played one game more than them. Like the leaders of the two divisions above them Meadway Sports and Social top the division two table having lost just one game. A 5-4 win over Sheldon Marlborough Ridge keeps Meadway top on average from Holy Souls whose 5-4 win against Small Heath Gardeners was their twelfth fixture, one more than Meadway. A resounding 7-0 win for leaders of the Stourbridge and District Wednesday Night League Ashwood ‘B’ over Gigmill has taken their points tally to 26 and sees them hold on to a two points advantage over second in the table Swan ‘A’ who had a less convincing 4-3 win at Bird (Stourbridge). It’s as you were at the top of the West Midlands Men’s Super League after the top two teams both won 4-1. Leaders Allen’s Sports Bar ‘A’ beat third in the table Yeltz Bar ‘A’ while second placed Railway Tavern won against the ECC Sports and Social Club after the social club had gone 1-0 up when Mick Baker accounted for Kevin Harris with a straight 4-0 win. So now after completing eighteen fixtures Allen’s Sports Bar ‘A’ remain top of the table with 110 points and Railway Tavern with 107 are just three behind them but following their defeat Yeltz Bar ‘A’ are now twelve points off the top and nine behind Railway and have a lot of ground to make up. The Pip Club League played off their divisional John Young Challenge Cup semi-finals and in the division one fixtures league leaders Belgrave Sports and Social Club won the local derby between them and Belgrave Club while third in the table Dolphin Wanderers won against Sports Bar ‘180’. There was a win for division two leaders Pip Club as they took out Old Liberal House and joining them in the final will be Dolphin who accounted for Kettlebrook Club.
