With only a handful of fixtures remaining in the West Midlands Men’s Super League only three points separate the top three teams. With Landywood ‘A’ having a bye in week 29 reigning champions Crown ‘A’ replaced them at the top of the table with a 3-2 win at Duke of York to give them 148 points one more than Landywood ‘A’. Third placed Pheasant won 4-1 at Crown ‘B’ to give them 145 points and a lead of 18 points on fourth placed Chillington. All of the top three teams have played 27 games. The South Birmingham League played off two cup finals, in the Knockout Cup Crown at Shard End took the title when they beat Coleshill Social 6-3, while the Jimmy Walker Cup went to Erdington Members Club after winning 7-2 against Banbury Flights. It was cup week in the Forest of Arden Summer League playing round one of their Knockout Cup in which Journeys End Flights won 7-2 against Kingshurst Knights and Greville Arrows record a 6-3 win over The C’s. Tom Bent continues to lead the way in the Shirley Red Lion Premier League despite losing his first game against Luke Coles 3-1, a somewhat surprising defeat as Coles had previously only won one of his 21 games, however Bent quickly recovered to beat Brian Lawton 4-0 to give him 73 points from 25 games. Paul Higgins was in form in week twelve with 4-0 wins over Brian Lawton and Mark Cater plus a 3-1 win against Tony Daly to move into second place on 69 points from 24 games. Former leaders Lee Harris and Mark Gwalchmai both slipped down the table Harris because he didn’t play in week 12 dropped to third on 67 points from 22 games while Gwalchmai goes down to fourth as he only played one fixture in which he recorded a 152 break, a 106 finish and ten and twelve darts legs in a 4-0 win over Tim Lowe to put him on 67 points from 23 games. Tom Bent picked up the week’s £5 prize for the highest finish of 120 in his game with Brian Lawton. Highest break of the night was 152 achieved by Mark Gwalchmai whilst the.best leg of the night was nine darts by Chris Thomas snr, Mark Gwalchmai had a ten darts leg. The Camp Hill League staged the preliminary rounds of their League and Consolation Cups. In the League Cup Hay Mills Social Club Lions defeated Wagon and Horses while in the Consolation Cup there was a win for Tyseley WMC over Station Wagon. Just one rearranged league fixture was played in which Holy Gulp beat Devil’s Club 5-2. A 6-3 win over third in the table Foaming Tankard keeps East Birmingham Allotment Holders Association in pole position in the Small Heath League with 16 points from their nine games. This coming Friday the Red Lion, Shirley, Monday night team will be staging a 24 hour charity dart-a-thon to raise money for Lupus UK as two of the players have wives suffering from the disease. The event will get underway at 16:00 on the Friday 26th May and go on till 16:00 the following day. Drop in the Red Lion and support a very worthy cause.

Mount Pleasant take over the top spot in the Brierley Hill Monday Night League from Bulls Head (Netherton) after they won 6-3 away to Portway and Bulls Head lost 5-4 away to The Swan who move up one place in the table to tenth. A 7-2 win by Dudley Ex Serviceman’s Club see’s them move into second place just two points short of the leaders following their 7-2 home win against fifth placed Dudley Sports ‘B’. Week 21 in the Winmau Centre Thursday Night Champions League was a good week for current leader Sam Guest as he beat Charlie Burley 7-0 and then won 6-1 against Paul Boddison to give him 205 points from 37 games. It was not such a good week for fourth in the table and reigning champion Mick Baker as he lost 4-3 to both third placed Louis Burley and Devinder Singh who is tenth. Baker did win his third tie against Craig Capewell 5-2 to leave him on 172 points from 32 games. With two games in hand on Guest second placed Chris Williams added 7-0 wins over Lisa Maiden and Rob Montana plus a 6-1 success against Sam Aitkens to leave him thirteen points short of Guest. The first leg of the first round of the League Cup was the order of the day for the Brierley Hill Friday Night League which brought together the two Netherton Cricket Club teams and ended in a close 4-3 win for the ‘A’ team over the ‘B’. There were 5-2 wins for the top two teams in the division one singles league in the Wolverhampton Tuesday Night League, leaders Riley’s ‘C’ beating their local rivals Riley’s ‘B’ and second placed Sunbeam accounting for Victoria.
