The Sheldon and District Summer League are one game away from the midway point of their season and in division one the three top teams Harvester, Iron Horse Flights and Mackadown Social are all locked together on the same six points and have exactly the same average. In division two Highwood KB’s are one of only teams in the league to have won all four games and hold a four and point’s lead over both Lyndon Old Boys and Willclare Sports and Social. Yardley Ex Colts, Ridgemere Social and Shirley RBL Misfits all have four points with just average separating them at the top of division three while division four boasts the only other team in the league with a 100% win record Fox and Goose who are on eight points and have a two points advantage over their nearest rivals Highwood Exiles. Raven have taken over pole position from The Bell in group one of the South Birmingham Summer League after they won 7-2 against C’s Flights and Bell were held to a 4-4 draw by Chelmsley Conservative Club. Raven now on seven points have a one point lead on Bell plus a game in hand. Just one game in group two which saw The Dog win 6-2 away to The Trident to put them into second place just one point behind leaders Pavillions. Erdington Members Club maintained their two points lead at the top of group three with a 7-1 win against Coleshill Social but second in the table Mackadown Social went one better by beating their opponents Smithswood Social 8-0 to slightly reduce their average deficit. Mark Gwalchmai began week three of the Shirley Red Lion Premier League with a hard fought 3-1 win over Lee Harris but then suffered his first defeat of the season at the hands of one of the league’s impressive newcomers Mark Henderson who won 3-1. Gwalchmai’s defeat opened the way for Steve Sidwell to move up into the number one spot and with 4-0 and 3-1 wins over respective players, new man Karl Wilson and Mikey Harris he went from second to top with 21 points two more than Gwalchmai, after both players have played six games. Third in the table Andy Thomas is also on the same 19 points as Gwalchmai but has played seven games. There were two 180’s on the night supplied by Jordan Ottley and Mark Henderson while the £5 for the highest finish went to Steve Heeks who registered an impressive 147 game shot in his 3-1 win over Luke Coles. Match number eight saw CEM West Heath lose ground for the division one title race in the South West Birmingham Clubs League as they surprisingly lost 4-3 at home to bottom of the table Bournbrook, this being Bournbrook’s only win in seven games. CEM have now played one game more than leaders Longbridge United and are four points behind them, Longbridge won 7-0 away to Rubery RBL to take their unbeaten run to seven games and remain the only team in the league not to have lost.. Yardley Wood have gone two points clear at the top of division two after beating second in the table Bartley Green FC ‘B’ 4-3. With a 4-3 win over Stirchley Nomads, Longbridge Ladies have taken over second place in the division three table from their opponents and are now just two points behind leaders Selly Oak Flights but have played one game more than them. The Camp Hill League staged their singles knockouts and in the men’s event the honours went to Pete Yardley (Hay Mills Social Club Lions) who defeated Neil Parsonage from Cotterills Lane Club in the final. The Winmau Centre Monday Night League have completed their season, What’s The Point rounding off their title winning campaign with a 35-13 win over Full Monty to finish with a total of 588 points. The Untouchables had a final 33-15 win against Keep It In The Family which saw them finish on the same 534 points and level on average with Just The Tip, however they took the runners up spot by virtue of the fact that they had won 13 and lost 3 to their rivals won 12 and lost 4. With the season now all done and dusted the new season will get underway on the 4th September. Week eight of the Sheldon Heath Social Club Dukes In House League saw leader Paul Sunner lose for only the second time when he finished on the wrong side of a 2-1 result against Perry Pudge. Despite the defeat Sunner hangs on to pole position with 20 points but is now closely followed by Lee Molyneux who is also in 20 points after a 3-0 success against Adam Plows, however Molyneux has played one game more than Sunner. The Winmau Darts Centre in the Wolverhampton Indoor Community Sports Arena are staging knockouts during the close season of the their Winmau Centre Thursday Night Champions and the winner of the first knockout was Matt Padgett who beat Steve Gillam 6-1 in the final. Padgett won his semi final against west Midlands player Mark Craddock 5-1 while Gillam won 5-3 against Justin Evans. The centre will be holding another knockout tomorrow night with registration up to 7.45pm with an 8.00pm start. Mount Pleasant lose their third place and are replaced by Delph Bell who won 5-4 at home against Portway leaving them four points adrift of the two teams above them but with a game in hand. The Brierley Hill Friday Night League are up to week two of their new season and only a third of the twelve starters are unbeaten. Netherton Cricket Club ‘A’ lead the way their latest 6-1 win over local rivals Netherton Cricket Club ‘B’ giving them a slender one leg of average lead over both Brickmakers Arms ‘A’ and Pensnett Welfare Club ‘A’ who in turn had 5-2 wins over Miners (Wollescote) and Fox ‘A’ (Lye), fourth placed Pensnett Welfare Club ‘B’ also won 5-2 at Fox ‘B’ (Lye) and are a further one leg adrift.
