The Forest of Arden Winter League staged the final of their League Pairs Cup and taking the honours with a final 11-4 win over bottom of the first division Ivy Leaf were division two champions Journeys End Flights whose C.Roberts notched a maximum, also finding the three treble twenties was A.Sheen for Ivy Leaf. It was a case of the top half of the league playing the bottom half in week five of the Small Heath League, all of the results going in favour of the top teams so leaders East Birmingham Allotment Holders Association take their unbeaten run to five games handing out a 9-0 whitewash to their hosts Cob’s Bar and at the same time keeping intact their two points lead over second in the table Gulp Tribe who were 7-2 winners at Wagon and Horses. Gulp Tribe remain two points ahead of third placed Foaming Tankard who were another team to win 9-0 in their away game against Emerald Club. The Sheldon Marlborough Cricket Club Singles League had their 501 Knockout on the fixture card and scooping the title with a final win over Alan Wale was Dave Howlett. Just one late division one result from the South Birmingham League which saw Banbury Arrows win 5-4 against The Raven, Banbury remaining next to bottom of the table on eight points, six more than bottom placed Crown Arrows and Raven who are two places above Banbury are on ten points. Played six won six that’s Cotterills Lane Club’s record in the Camp Hill League their latest victory being 6-1 at New Inn to keep them two points ahead of second in the table Hay Mills Social Club Lions who won their home tie with Wagon and Horses 5-2. Third placed Holy Gulp are the only other team in the league with a 100% win record, they had their fixture with Devil’s Club postponed leaving them on the same ten points as Hay Mills with a game in hand. Louis Burley added a 5-2 win over Devinder Singh and a 6-1 win against Liam Baker to his tally in the Winmau Centre Thursday Night Champions League to take his points to 152. Week seventeen was a bad week for second placed Chris Williams as after winning 5-2 against Martin East he lost by the same margin to reigning champion for the past two seasons Mick Baker and then went down 6-1 to Charlie Burley who is only four places off the foot of the table. Nevertheless Williams with 146 points is only six short of leader Burley and he has two games in hand on Burley. Sam Guest lying third in the table on 134 points from 24 games did his title hopes no harm when he handed out 7-0 defeats to Mark Bayliss and Shane Watters and beat Sam Aitkens 4-3 while fourth placed Mick Baker has only played 23 games and has 127 points after his 7-0 win over Sam Aitkens, 5-2 success against Chris Williams and a close 4-3 win in his tie with Adam Quinton. Lee Harris with 3-1 wins over Craig Johnson and Pete Silver plus a 2-2 draw with Andy Hoy has joined Mark Gwalchmai at the top of the Shirley Red Lion Premier League both players on 51 points from 16 games after Gwalchmai chalked up a 4-0 win over Brian Lawton followed by a 3-1 win against Paul Higgins to end Higgins unbeaten run. Chris Thomas a former leader of the league is now placed third on 45 points six short of the top two after losing 4-0 to Steve Heeks but then recovering to beat Mike Forsyth by the same 4-0 scoreline. The weeks £5 for the highest finish went to Lee Harris who in the final game of the night against Andy Hoy checked out on 130 just pipping Chris John and Andy Thomas who in turn had 109 and 110 finishes. The top two teams in the Brierley Hill Friday Night League Brickmakers Arms and Pensnett Welfare Club ‘A’ met on the Brickmakers board in week 25 and the very close 4-3 result went in favour of the Pensnett Club to give them 40 points and take them to within two points of Brickmakers who hang on to pole position with 42 points. Third placed Netherton Cricket Club ‘A’ are also on 40 points trailing Pensnett Welfare Club ‘A’ on average following their 6-1 win at Ten Arches. The Untouchables have opened up a massive 21 points lead over second placed Just The Tip after their huge 45-3 win over Make Mine A Double giving them a total of 182 points. Second in the Hilltop Friendly Tuesday Night League table Dewdrop bounced back from their shock 4-3 defeat to Ivy Bush last week with a convincing 6-1 win over Old Court House to keep them within four points of leaders Island Inn who won 5-2 away to New Talbot. The Vine and Old Hop Pole swapped places in the table Vine taking over third place after beating Old Hop Pole 6-1 and the losers dropping to fourth. At the other end of the table the two bottom teams played each other with Hayes Social who are at the foot of the table registering their first win in ten when they won 4-3 at Horseley Tavern who are just above them on the same two points with a superior average. Landywood ‘A’ top of the West Midlands Men’s Super League won 4-1 away at Pensnett Welfare Club to give them 142 points from 25 games while reigning champions and second in the table Crown ‘A’ after losing 3-2 to Landywood ‘A’ in their last fixture got back to winning ways dropping only one leg against bottom placed Rowley Bar and Grill to win 5-0 and put them on 134 points from 24 games. Third placed Pheasant had a comfortable 4-1 win against Bridgtown but are seventeen points behind Landywood and nine adrift of Crown. A charity darts knockout was held at the Pensnett Welfare Club in aid of the Dementia Appeal for Ward B2 in Russells Hall Hospital. The guaranteed £500 prize money attracted almost sixty entrants with the title and £200 top prize going to Liam Kelly who won the close final against Andy Hamilton 6-5, Hamilton receiving £100. The last four play offs saw Kelly win 5-2 against Reece Colley while Hamilton had a 5-1 success over Ashley Hykin, both losing semi finalists collected £50 plus there was £25 for each of the losing quarter finalists C.Willimas, C.Fox, J.Rollinson and M.Rollinson. However the biggest winner was the charity which will benefit to the tune of £1,002. A 4-3 win over Sunbeam third in the division one singles league in the Wolverhampton Tuesday Night League sees leaders Riley’s ‘C’ hold on to their two points lead over local rivals Riley’s ‘B’ who were 6-1 winners at The Boat. In the second division of the singles league Dog and Partridge lead the way on a maximum 18 points from their nine games the latest of which was a 6-1 win at Wednesfield Legion. The Shed are second on 16 points keeping in touch with the leaders with a 5-2 win away to Pendulum. In division one of the doubles league Riley’s ‘B’ have a four points advantage over Riley’s ‘C’, the ‘B’ side winning 2-1 at The Boat while the ‘C’ team had a 3-0 success against Sunbeam.
