Darts Report: "Diddy Dobbo is The Full Package"

Cleveland County player Kenny "Dobbo" Dobson proved to strong for the field in The Streamline Taxis York Open Darts Championship (Stage 3) held at Huntington WMC in York. The York Darts Promotions event organised in Association with Red Dragon Darts once again saw a quality final as Dobson hit 19-15-17 dart legs followed by a 180 score for 14 and a 120 finish for 15 darts, averaging 93.94, to whitewash York^s Lutz Leutzsch (80.24 Ave) 5-0.

Leutzsch, who hit a bull, bull, double 16 for a 132 finish for 12 darts and then added an 11 dart leg was the inform player coming out of the semi-finals defeating York^s Paul Cooper 4-3 in a very close encounter.

Cooper earlier winning Huddersfields Steve Hattersley 3-1 with 14 and 15 darts, in the 1/4 Finals .

Dobson beat Jim Gordon (Scarborough) 4-1 in the other semi and tamed the "Master" Quentin Mcmaster (York) 3-0 with a 102 checkout for 18 and a 106 finish for 15 darts in the quarters.

Other 1/4 Final results saw Leutzsch defeated Mark Hartley (York) 3-2 and Gordon (hit a 132 finish to level 2-2 with Neil Hart (York), after Hart had missed 9 doubles, with Gordon then setting off 140, 180 for 16 darts to take the decider in the remaining 1/4 Final.

In Group One Dobson set the standard defeating Barry Ballaban (Bridlington) 3-1 in the first match of the day with 15-16-18 (including 2 x 180^s). Danniel Lidgett (17) and Oliver Mitchell (16) showed glimpses of form and Colin Hendry hit legs of 19-16-17-18 before going down 3-0 to Dobson in the Group One Final.

Mcmaster, who earlier hit 16 and a 180 score for 11 darts won Group Two beating Rab McKenzie (21) 3-1 with 2 x 17 dart legs.

Hart won Group 3 with 17-16-21 in a 3-0 victory over Steve Mann who had earlier included a 180. Richard Heathcote (16), Steve Silver 120 and 132 finishes and Dave Lord 180 were the best from the rest.

Gordon was the cream of the crop in Group Four with legs of 15-16-17-18-13 before defeating Dave Scaum 3-2 in the final adding a 14 dart leg to his already impressive list.
Paul Bulmer had earlier taken out 17-18 and 142 finish for 12 in Group Five then hitting 16 and 18 darts plus 2 x 180^s before going down 3-2 to Leutzsch (16-20-15) in the final.

 Mark Hartley produced legs of 16-18-19-20 and 16 to win Group Six, beating Stuart Ireland (180) 3-0 on route to the quarters. Jason Day 19 plus 180 score and Ireland 19 added to the stats.

The highest checkout of the day, 157 finish, came in the Group Seven Final as Cooper won 3-1 against Johnathon Crossland whilst in Group Eight Mark Helliwell (17) and Hattersley (16) in beating Alex Render 3-1 in the final were the only recorded fast legs.
Colin Hendry hit a 108 finish whilst further 180^s were scored by Martin Wilson, Hart and Trevor Holtby.

Stage 4 is on Saturday 30th March at Huntington WMC with the registration closing at 12.30pm.
