Darts Review - Red Dragon Chiefs

The Chiefs range provides some of Red Dragon’s most clean and functional darts available, concentrating on providing the player an efficient torpedo shaped barrel. Recently used by World Number 2 Peter Wright at the 2018 PDC World Matchplay. Darts Specs: Dimensions 24g                                         26g Barrel Length: 40.6 mm   Barrel Length: 43.2 mm Barrel Width: 7.6 mm       Barrel Width: 7.5 mm Grip Dual Groves Red Dragon Darts, Cheifs, Dart Review The Red Dragon Chiefs range comes in 24g and 26g with a classic design that targets a strong performance grip in the centre. The range also comes in striking Rainbow and Black coated designs to fit a range of aesthetics, complete with two sets of standard extra thick flights and a set of medium aluminium shafts. The central dual grooved grip is a perfect level 4 grip that lends itself very well to my centralised grip zone. There is also a small section of ring grip at the rear that can assist players as a reference point or for those who have a wider grip zone and prefer throwing slightly further up the barrel. That being said, this torpedo shape is really designed for middle-grippers who enjoy a shorter, centre balanced dart. It’s easy to see why Peter Wright’s throw has performed well with this barrel design. The barrel’s grip pattern suits his two-finger grip style perfectly, whilst the balance gives him the consistency to hit his target with efficiency and accuracy. This style of dart flies truer than any other with zero wobble. Snakebite’s 105.6 average in Wednesday night’s match over Kim Huybrechts is evidence of that, hitting 50% of his doubles and 3 ton-plus finishes in the process. When i threw the dart, it had minimum fish-tailing through the air and sticks into the board at fantastic angle. You can view the full Chiefs range here.
