Darts Stars to Go ‘Over The Top’ In Brilliant Barnsley Event

Some of the biggest stars of professional darts are set to compete in an exciting event at Barnsley Metrodome in September.

Eight top players, including World Champions Raymond van Barneveld and local legend Dennis Priestley, have been assembled for a terrific night of quality sporting entertainment at the inaugural ‘Over The Top’ on 27 September 2013.

Two-time World Champion Priestley, of Mexborough, and popular Dutchman ‘Barney’ will be joined by seven-time PDC major winner James ‘The Machine’ Wade, reigning European Champion Simon ‘The Wizard’ Whitlock and reigning World Grand Prix Champion ‘Mighty Mike’ - Michael van Gerwen.

The sensational line-up will be completed by Belgian ace Kim ‘The Hurricane’ Huybrechts and two more Yorkshire men – ‘Over The Top’ himself, Dean Winstanley, who has been a finalist at both the World Championship and World masters, and Huddersfield’s James Wilson.

2012 Grand Slam of Darts winner van Barneveld is excited at the prospect of appearing in front of a big Barnsley crowd.

He said: "It is a fantastic line-up and it will be great to play in front the fans there. We play Pro Tour events at the Metrodome but they are behind closed doors so it is brilliant to be able to play in front of a crowd.

"I have met a few people when I’ve been in Barnsley and I know that they are passionate about darts. The Sheffield Premier League is one of my favourites in terms of the crowd so I’m really looking forward to this event.

"A few of the players will be aiming for local pride but we are all very competitive and will be out to win, which makes for a great show.”
