Darts: WINMAU WORLD MASTERS 2009.
With players from seventy countries The WINMAU WORLD MASTERS, now the worlds longest running major darts championship - having started in 1974, will again see an increase in prize money for the 2009 competition. Held at The Bridlington Spa on September 4th, 5th and 6th 2009 and screened live on BBC television, the tournament will see some 400 players battling for an impressive £64,500 of prize money.
The winner of the men’s competition will take home a cheque for a credit crunch busting £25,000, as well as the prestigious title of World Master, which in the in the past has been won by a who^s who of darts, including : Phil Taylor, Eric Bristow, Raymond van Barneveld, John Lowe and Dennis Priestley.

The 2009 tournament which is promoted by the BDO and held in association with John Smith^s and the East Riding of Yorkshire Council will see the following breakdown in prize-money:

The Winmau World Masters 2009, will see players from approximately seventy countries battling to win individual Men’s^ Ladies, Boys and Girls Championships.
The 2008 winners were as follows:
MENS: Martin Adams (England).
LADIES: Francis Hoenselaar (Netherlands).
BOYS: Shaun Griffiths (Wales).
GIRLS: Linda Oden (Sweden).
