Delight for double champion Dobromyslova
Anastasia Dobromyslova 2 – 1 Deta Hedman
Anastasia Dobromyslova won the Women’s World Championship for the second time, beating Deta Hedman in a thrilling final at Lakeside.
After spending three years in the PDC, Dobromyslova marked her return to the BDO in style by claiming the biggest prize in women’s darts.
Hedman took the first set against the darts and looked to be on her way to victory. The world number one hit a 180 on her way to winning the first leg of set two before Dobromyslova held her throw.
Hedman miscounted when on a 42 finish, wasting two darts before realising her mistake and missing double 13. The 2008 winner made her pay, hitting double ten to clinch a vital break of throw. Hedman took out a neat 100 finish to break straight back and move within a leg of her first World Championship title. Dobromyslova denied her though; hitting double five to win the second set.
The Russian hit double eight to hold her throw before taking out 78, putting herself in pole position in the match for the first time. She went on to win the title in style, taking out 90 on the bull to become only the second woman to be crowned as world champion more than once.
