EAST YORKSHIRE SPORTS FANS LOOK TO SUPER SEPTEMBER OF DARTS

The World^s top players from the British Darts Organisation and World Darts Federation will be involved in a ^Super September^ of world-class darts in Bridlington, with a mouth-watering line-up offering combined prize money of over £100,000.

* Opening Bridlington^s Super September will be the BDO International Play-Offs for the 2010 BDO LAKESIDE WORLD PROFESSIONAL DARTS CHAMPIONSHIPS, which will be staged at Lakeside Country Club and televised by BBC TV from January 2nd to 10th, 2010.

Approximately 300 players (men and women) from some thirty countries will compete at The Spa on Thursday, September 3rd for the chance to win the remaining qualifying spots available at Lakeside.

At stake are four places in the Lakeside Men^s Singles and two in the Women^s Singles.

Players from Europe, Scandinavia, Japan, India, Turkey, Canada, America and as far away as the Philippines and Australia will battle it out in a dramatic day of world darts.

There will also be two standby players (one man and one woman) who will line-up at Lakeside if the 2009 Winmau World Men^s and Women^s Masters have already qualified for the World Professional Championships next January.

* This will be followed by the BBC televised Winmau World Masters in association with John Smith^s and East Riding of Yorkshire Council at The Spa, Bridlington from September 4th to 6th BBC TV Sport will screen comprehensive coverage of the Men^s Masters over the weekend of the 5th & 6th.

The World Masters is a true World Championship with players from seventy countries being invited, including singles darts champions from over 140 national and international events worldwide. Approximately 400 players will converge on Bridlington for this year^s Masters, which will mark the 36th anniversary of the oldest established major in world darts (1974-2009).

Uniquely, it is the only major Championships in darts with four separate finals - Men, Women, Boys and Girls. Once again it is the richest two-day darts event on terrestrial television with prize money of £64,500.

*It is estimated that some 1,000 darts entries will be in Bridlington for the Winmau World Masters and Lakeside International Play-Offs.

*Less than two-weeks later, the best BDO and WDF players in the world will return for the BDO British Open at The Spa from September 18th to 20th.

This major ranked event marks the exciting climax of the BDO Fire Kills International series of five BDO majors from May to September. With combined prize money of £28,000 in the Fire Kills International Grand Prix Series and £10,500 in the BDO British Open, collectively the prize money on offer in Bridlington^s Super September of darts is a massive £103,000.

*And bringing Super September to a close, the players (men, women and youth) representing the national teams of many countries, including England, Scotland and Wales – the majority of whom will be competing in Bridlington during Super September – will fly to Charlotte, North Carolina, USA for the WDF World Cup from the 24th to 26th
