Gemma Hayter Joins Red Dragon
Red Dragon is pleased to announce the signing of England darting star Gemma Hayter, becoming the latest addition into Team Red Dragon.
“I’m really pleased to sign with Red Dragon, they are a massive name in darts, and I’m delighted to be a part of their fantastic team.”
“I remember ordering some personalised flights from Red Dragon when I was 14. They were pink kite shaped with my name written in gold, so it’s a very surreal full circle moment.”
Red Dragon Marketing Director Simon Hall also gave his thoughts on Gemma’s new deal: “Gemma is a fantastic player who continues to improve, I’m delighted Gemma will continue her development with Red Dragon and I look forward to what the future will bring.”
Hayter started by playing with Hampshire at county level, competing both at youth and senior level.
Gemma won the British International Women’s title in 2016, representing England alongside Lisa Ashton, Fallon Sherrock, Lorraine Winstanley, Trina Gulliver, and Deta Hedman.
The 30-year-old has had a fantastic 2024 so far, recently winning 2 WADC Championship Tour’s in Middlesbrough and earning £1000 in prize money. Hayter started with a 5-2 victory over Steph Clarke in Event 5, before ending the weekend by beating Deta Hedman 5-4 in Event 8.
The former England international has only played 4 of the 8 tournaments on the WADC Championship Tour, sitting 5th in the order of merit. The Top 8 in the rankings will return in November for the chance to win £1000 at the MODUS Super Series for Finals Day.
Gemma has made a strong start also on the PDC Women’s Series, sitting 9th in the order of merit after 8 Events played.
The Gosport resident reached the Semi Finals of Event 6 earlier this year at Robin Park Sports Centre, including a fantastic performance in the Quarter Finals, averaging 97.37 and hitting a 12 darter in a 5-1 win over Fallon Sherrock.
The 30-year-old reached her first PDC Semi Final in the opening event of the year, hitting a 91.71 average against Lorraine Winstanley in a 4-3 win, before losing out 5-4 against Women’s Series Number 1 Beau Greaves.
Hayter will hope to kick on now with the help of Red Dragon, with many tournaments still to play in 2024.
Red Dragon is delighted to have Gemma Hayter on board, and we wish her all the best for the remainder of the year.
