Hart doubles with Love for Total Satisfaction
The 2nd running of the YDP York Tackle Darts/Fishing Event attracted entrants from Leeds, Tollerton, Castleford, Drax and York combining for what is a very social day and night. The event consist of Singles and Pairs Events in both the fishing and darts, with your partner being the same person in fishing as in darts. A points ranking system is put in place to determine who will become the overall champions.
The fishing event, which took place at Raker Lakes, Elvington (fishing the Horseshoe Lake from 9am to 2pm) had Yorks Mark Leslie, fishing off peg 22, weighing in and winning the Individual fishing event netting 62lb 14oz. Mally Welsh (Leeds) fishing Peg 11 was 2nd with 50lb 12oz with Redwood Lakes owner and last years winner Paul Chappell finishing 3rd, fishing peg 13 on 46lb and in 4th place Mark Miller (York, Peg 19-31lb 10z).
The Blind Pairs Draw saw Paul Chappell/Lee Fisher coming first with a combined weight of 70lb 8oz. In second place was Jason Day/Mark Leslie with 68lb 14oz and 3rd Mally Welsh/Richard Lee 50lb 13.5oz.
On conclusion of the fishing it was off to the Flag & Whistle, York for an evening of darts, which saw Neil Hart taking both the Singles and then the Pairs partnering Andy Love. In the pairs Hart/Love defeated Mooring/S.Smith 2-1 in the final and J.Day/Leslie 2-0 in the semi-finals. Other beaten semi-finalists were Atkins and Hanks.
The highlight of the singles was the eargerly awaited first round clash between Yorks Rich Corner and Englands Martin Atkins and it never failed to dissapoint with Atkins winning in 14 and 15 darts against Corners 14. Atkins route to the final saw him defeat Andy Love, Mark Leslie and Lee Fisher in the Semi-finals, all matches 2-0. His opponent in the Final, Neil Hart had 2-1 wins over Mark Clayton, Andrew Hanks and in the Semi-final, John Mooring before completing his run by defeating Atkins by the same margin in the final.
The overall joint winners were Hart/Love, Chappell/Fisher and Leslie/Day all finishing on level points.
It was another great day and i am sure the event which just get bigger next year. The date for the 2015 YDP Darts /Fishing Event has been pencilled in as Saturday 18th July 2015 and will be confirmed later in the year.
