INCREASED PRIZE MONEY FOR 2012 WINMAU WORLD MASTERS

In keeping with its policy of increasing tournament prize money, the BDO Board of Directors  is delighted to announce that the 2012 Winmau World Masters will have a record-break  prize fund of £70,500 when it is played at Hull City Hall from October 12th to 14th and screened  live and exclusively by ESPN.

For the first time ever,  the Men^s Masters will have prize money payable down to the Last 32:

Men’s Prize Structure :

Champion £ 25,000  +  Challenge Trophy to be held for one year.

Runner-up £ 10,000

Semi-Finalists x 2 £3,000 each

Q/Finalists x 4 £1,500 each

Last 16 x 8 £1,000 each

Last  32 x 16 £250 each.

Women’s Prize Structure:

Champion £ 5,000 + Challenge Trophy to be held for one year.

Runner-up  £ 2,000 

Semi-Finalists x 2 £750  each

Q/Finalist x 4 £ 500 each

TOTAL PRIZE MONEY:  £70,500

"We are delighted to be rewarding our players with the best ever prize money for the Winmau Men^s World Masters", says BDO Chairman Barry Gilbey, "because it reflects the status of the tournament and the rewards to the players for reaching the Last 32 of our second major televised event of 2012.

"The other major reward is that for the second consecutive year ESPN will be screening extensive coverage from Friday, October 12th to Sunday, October 14th from Hull City Hall."

Staged and promoted  by the British Darts Organisation in association with EY Events, and jointly sponsored by Hull City Council and East Riding of Yorkshire Council, the 39th anniversary Winmau World Masters is the oldest major darts tournament in  world darts, and it  is unique in  having four separate World Finals for  Men, Women, Boys and Girls.
